Talking about the theory and history of Mass Media, he said that  Mass Media emerged in the 19th Century and reached it peak in the late 20th Century, during which it separated out the component of private conversation and brought out the notion of the word ‘public’.

Highlighting the concept of Network Media, Prof Allen said that Network Media has introduced the phase when life is becoming media and the private is becoming public. He further explained that people are sharing every bit of their life moments with their network connections on social media platform, making personal information available to public. He emphasized that the emergence of new media or network media has not resulted in the decline of Mass media, infact, both co-exist and they are entangled together for sharing the information by forming a network of society.
