The match was sponsored by Oberoi Fiat. The Crown Plaza team comprised of the esteemed staff of the hotel which included Mr. Ankit Nayyar, Sales Manager, Mr. Abhishek Verma, Asst Manager Front Office and Hitesh Luthra, Mr. Sudhanshu Sharma, Sous Chef and others. The host team comprised of faculty and students from Amity School of Hospitality and the event sponsor Oberoi Fiat employees.
The players of both the team were introduced to the dignitaries from the industry. Dr. Kalpna Sharma, Director ASPESS, Dr. K K Sahu Dy Director, ASPESS Mr. Manish Srivastava, Director, ASIBAS, Dr. S K Khatri, Director, AIIT were present during the occasion.
Crown Plaza team won the toss and chose to bat first. The opening batsman Mr. Abhishek Verma started the match off with a blast and greatly boosted the morale of the Crown Plaza team which went on to achieve a brilliant score of 156 runs in just 20 overs.
The Second half of the match started with great enthusiasm by the opening pair who was challenged greatly by a marvelous balling performance by the opposing team. Highlight performances were delivered by Mr. Deepak Thakur and Mr. Ajeet Kumar Singh who hit a few good boundaries and the rest of the batting line up which made the score rise up to 103 runs.
It was a treat for all the spectators to witness academicians and hospitality professional fighting for runs on the ground in an amicable environment.
The winner was Crown Plaza Group of Hotels. Eminent guests from the hotel were present during the match which included Ms. Nita Baluni, Director Human Resource Chef Tony, Executive Chef Crown Plaza, Greater Noida, Mr. Amit Sharma, Manager Room Division.
At the end of the match an interactive discussion was initiated with the Crown Plaza Group of Hotel and Intercontinental Group of Hotels regarding coordination in industrial training, campus placement and training for faculty members. The event proved to be platform to bridge the gap between academia and industry. The match ended with a friendly, healthy spirit with prize distribution and lunch which showed the new found bond between the two institutions.
