Amity University Bags Maruti Suzuki Road Safety Awards 2014
Amity University has always been at theforefront whenever Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives are undertakenand the student of Amity actively participate in full strength that helps Amityachieve it goals. Adding another feather to its cap, Amity University UttarPradesh has been awarded ‘Maruti Suzuki Road Safety Award 2014’ in the Educationcategory nationally for its contribution towards spreading the awareness aboutRoad Safety. The award was received by Mr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, AmityUniversity Uttar Pradesh by Dr. Kiran Bedi, Chief Guest of the occasion.
India holds thedubious distinction of registering the highest number of road accidents in theworld. Aiming to improve traffic education and develop safe driving habitsamongst people, Maruti Suzuki in association with TIMES NOW organized MarutiSuzuki Road Safety Awards 2014 to honor those who have contributed towards RoadSafety Measures for Individual and Society.
Nominations camefrom across the Nation which were classified in 6 categories including Private Sector,Public sector, Corporate Sector, Education Sector, NGO and Individual. In total176 nominations were shortlisted and 46 nominations were of Education category.After rigorous screening, Amity was selected as the winner on the basis ofefforts laid down by the University students in creating an awareness towardsRoad safety such as Curb Road Rage, Self Defense Workshop for women while beingon road, Lecture on Road safety, Traffic management on road, Workshop on roadethics, traffic rules, safety measures for pedestrians among others.
