Amity School of Insurance, Banking and Actuarial Science organizes Seminar on Corporate Governance under the Amity Human Values Quarter
In order to inculcate human values amongst its students, all the institutions of Amity observe “Human Values Quarter” from January 28, 2012 to April 27, 2012. During these three months several activities such as workshops/debates/plays/drama/poster making/essay competition/ poem contest are being organized with a focus to highlight and promote human values. Human Values Quarter will inspire the students and entire Amity fraternity to dedicate themselves to the cause of the society.
As Part of this Amity Human Values Quarter celebration, Amity School of Insurance, Banking and Actuarial Science (ASIBAS) organized a Seminar on Corporate Governance on the topic “The Role of Business and Personal Ethics & Values” on January 31, 2012.
The Seminar was inaugurated by Swami Shantatmanand Ji, Ramakrishna Mission, Ms. Vijaya Nene, Director, Ethics & Complies – Metlife India and Prof. R.R. Grover, Director, Amity School of Insurance, Banking and Actuarial Science.
Addressing the gathering on “Emphasis on Values and Ethics”, Swami Shantatmanand Ji, Ramakrishna Mission said that for every human being it is must that he has ethics and human values in his life. Addressing the students, he said “you will soon be employed with big companies, therefore it is important to follow their rules and regulations but inspite of that you have to remember your values. He said that holy books like Ramayana, Mahabharata and Geeta are a source of inspiration for all of us. If we count on human values, then western civilization is very small in respect to our civilization. Swami ji said that always keep the vision big and no one can stop you from achieving success in your life. The thought process of a person brings tremendous change in ones life. Positive attitude plays significant role.
Prof. R.R. Grover, Director, Amity School of Insurance, Banking and Actuarial Science said that it’s a great honour for all of us to listen to the enlightening words of the Swami ji. It will help not only the students but also others who are present during the occasion to live a life full of wisdom, health and happiness.
Inauguration was followed by panel discussion in which Mr Rajesh Relan, CEO, Metlife India presented in talk on the topic “Experience on Transparency & Ethics in Corporate”. Dr Sutanu Sinha, Sr. Director, Institute of Company Secretaries shared his views on “Role of Company Secretaries in Corporate Governance”. Shri P S Bawa, IPS, Chairman, Transparency International talked on “Transparency in Governance”. Mr Ashish Srivastava, Director – HR, Canara HSBC Life Insurance Co presented in talk on the topic “Issues of Transparency & Ethics in Insurance”.
