Amity University Haryana organises two days National Conference on Advancement in Convergence of Technologies (NCACT)

Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET) and Amity Institute of Biotechnology (AIB) at Amity University Haryana, Manesar Gurgaon Campus jointly hosted two days National Conference on Advancement in Convergence of Technologies (NCACT) on September 8-9, 2011. The inaugural ceremony held on September 8, was witnessed by a constellation of academicians, researchers, industrialists and students from more than 70 universities in India and abroad.

Prof Asis Datta, former Vice-Chancellor, JNU speaking as the Chief Guest, emphasized about the role of convergence of technologies in national development. He stressed upon the significance of inter disciplinary research and mentioned that future inventions need to have cutting edges. He appreciated the theme of the conference being convergence of technologies.

Dr Padmakali Banerjee, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Amity University Haryana (AUH) motivated the researchers to undertake research for the masses and get it patented. Prof. R.C. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, briefed the audience about the Amity University Haryana and the philosophy of societal development through education of science and interdisciplinary research.

Prof. B.P. Singh, Sr Director, ASET along with Maj. Gen. B.S. Suhag welcomed all the participants and Prof. S.M. Paul Khurana, Director, AIB gave the vote of thanks.

The technical sessions during the National Conference on Advancement in Convergence of Technologies (NCACT)-2011 included topics of various branches of engineering and biotechnology.

The conference had various sessions under the categories of invited talks, oral presentations and poster presentations. More than 100 renowned scientists and professors from different fields deliberated on their specializations through this unique platform and tried to explore future dimensions of research.

Prof IK Sharma, Department of Information Technology, GoI, Prof SMP Khurana, AIB, Prof KC Upadhyay, JNU, Prof Ajit Verma, AUUP, Prof DS Mehta, IIT Delhi, Prof SK Lal, ICGEB, Prof SK Chakrabarty, Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla, Dr T Shripathi, Scientist G, UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research, Indore, Dr GP Rao, IARI, Prof P Kumar, IIT Roorkee were the key speakers.

Scientists from Still University of Health Sciences, and Indiana University Richmond, USA also delivered virtual lectures.

Dr Priti Singh, Convener of the NCACT-2011 thanked all in the concluding ceremony for making this first ever national conference of Amity University Haryana a success.
