Amity Youth Festival begins with great fervor & enthusiasm with participation of over 350 teams
Three day extravaganza “Amity Youth Festival” began at Amity University Campus amongst the colorful mix of hundreds of management, technical and cultural events. The festival first of its kind in the history of Amity is being organized from February 09 – 11, 2012. Over 6,000 students from 350 Institutes from all over India are participating in the Amity Youth Festival.
Amity Youth Festival was inaugurated by Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group, Mr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Rajasthan, Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, Chairperson, Amity Youth Festival & Addl. Director General – Amity Business School amidst sacred chants of Gayatri Mantra. The students showcased their talent with performance of Bhangra group dance and Indian Classical dance.
Inaugurating the festival, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group said that it is a pleasant sight to see that all the students of Amity have come together to make this mammoth event Amity Youth Festival possible. It is the power of youth which can shape and change the future. Dr. Chauhan said that all Amitians have inherent power to rule the world and will make the parents, society and country proud. Dr. Chauhan expressed his amazement over the fact “whether there is any formula to calculate the energy, vigor, talent level of students since each student showed immense energy to make this festival a success.” This festival saw amalgamation of youth energy and intelligence of the seniors culminate into a very energetic, enthusiastic and powerful cultural & technical bonanza.
While addressing students of Amity University, Mr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that Amity is all about youth and youth is the future of our world. If students can work together as a team than nothing is impossible and you can achieve anything and everything in the world. Mr. Chauhan said that if you dream big than you can achieve big. Mr. Chauhan hoped that in future times to come Amity Youth Festival will be the biggest Youth festival of the World.
According to Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, Chairperson, Amity Youth Festival & Addl. Director General – Amity Business School the festival is divided into four domains – Management, Engineering & Technology, Allied Sciences and Culture programs and for the first time a Book Fair is also being organized as part of festival where over 30 publishers have pitched in to the delight of the readers.
During the day several activities were lined up including
1) Kurukshetra a debate competition on the topic "Was 3G rollout a success or not" which saw the participation of 16 teams.
2) Antaragini a "Street play" competition laid emphasis on various social issues especially female foeticide, increasing corruption and prevailing environment issues. Street play saw overall participation of 14 teams out of which 11 teams were from Hindu, Ramjas colleges and other colleges of Delhi University . Arvind Gaur of Asmita Theatre and Geetanjali Sharma a renowned theatre artist with more than 30 years of experience judged these teams on the basis of their performance and creativity.
3) National Seminar: - A national seminar was conducted by the management department on the "Corporate Sustainable Development for common Future."
4) Bhoot Bangla was a fun & fear filled activity conducted in which a replica of scary house with hanging skeletons and students as ghosts was creatd. Most terrified group was the winner of the act.
5) Ash Quiz Series 2 focussed on the theme "Independence India Journey so Far" which tried to portray Unity in Diversity. The questions were related to Indian art, culture and history. Out of 27 teams, 4 teams qualified for finals by clearing 3 rounds and Mohammed Numan and Hanan Neer of Amity Institute of Nanotechnology won the quiz with a prize of 5 night stay at Leela Hotel. The runner ups from Galgotia University won themselves a 3 night stay at Leisure Hotel.
6) Khoj Treasure Hunt was aimed at testing the mind skils of students where several clues were placed all across campus. 27 teams including from outside colleges like IIPM, IILM, IMS Ghazaibad participated in the treasure hunt.
7) Book Fair hosted by Biosyss in collaboration with Amity Innovation Incubator. The fair had a plethora of stalls housing various kinds of publications- from renowned to local, from student-based to university presses, from websites to stalls offering education abroad.
8) UN Security Council- MUN was a unique mock Parliamentary debate wherein students registered themselves as delegates from different countries and debate it out- UN style on the topic “Iran’s Nuclear Enhancement Policy”.
9) Poet’s Corner - The Poet’s Corner gets you to meet the Wordsworths and the Plaths of today. Flaunting their immaculate and impressive vocabulary, the young poets poured their emotions in their recitations. Some were dark yet deep, others spiked with innocence, some yearning to find themselves, some mundane lives portrayed extraordinarily.
10) Mechaniko, a mechanical event in which teams were provided with an alert for all machine-freaks! Teams were given a prototype component with machines and materials and they were required to assemble in the fastest mode.
11) Director’s Cut, a technical event in which participants were asked to click photographs and prepare AV presentations on the theme “Technology for India”.
The first day of the festival culminated with Rock Band performances, Fashion Show and Choreography Competition in which over 20 teams each participated in the colorful and scintillating extravaganza.
