Yadav – Managing Director, Wanderlust Travels, spoke at length and enthused us with his experiences and opportunities in the adventure tourism sector, who spoke on the topic “Problems and Prospects of Adventure Tourism in India”. The session was held at Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh.

He brought into light various innovative concepts, adding adventure into the normal itineraries like those of Golden Triangle or Rajasthan trips. He said that this industry requires more and more youngsters to start more adventure outlets with innovative ideas. Though India has a lot of potential in the adventure sector, it is yet to promote this part. On the other hand, Nepal has promoted the same concept well and receives 5 times more number of tourists every year than India for adventure tourism. What we need today is may be to add soft adventure to the trips that the tour operators handle.

The company now has 4 adventure resorts in India. One of them, the Water Banks Resort in Gurgaon, provides around 20 adventure related activities in the premises. Their main motive is to hard sell adventure, being offbeat.

The company also provides equipment in the adventure related events. Major S.K. Yadav stressed upon the various career opportunities in the field of adventure tourism namely – Adventure tour specialist, Tour manager for adventure, Event Manager for adventure, and so on.

The session was thrilling with a lot of questions pouring in from the students. They were very excited to learn a lot about this field and the session.
