Amity University honors Mr. A. S. Chandhiok -Additional Solicitor General, Govt of Delhi and Mr. Dieter Manz , CEO, Manz Automation AG with Honorary Doctorate Degrees during the first day of 7th Convocation 2011
Amity University organized its 7th Convocation, spread over three days ie. December 14-16, 2011 at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida.
During the three day Convocation, over 10,637 successfully qualified graduands of several Programs received UG and PG Degrees, Diplomas, Trophies and Medals.
On December 14, over 2,177 graduands impressively clad in black robes, red and yellow capes representing their respective programmes and hats thronged the Amity Campus Grounds, Sector-125, Noida along with their parents and relatives who came along to share the special moments with the proud degree recipientsThe pious ceremony commenced with the academic procession of Members of Management, Trustees, Heads of Institutions/ Departments and Faculty members led by a band of pipers who heralded the procession .
Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh gave his kind consent to commence the Grand Convocationwhich was followed with the welcome address and presentation of annual report by
Maj Gen. K J Singh- Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh who highlighted the massive growth of Amity Education Group during the last year with five Universities across India, 85, 000 students and 30, 000 alumni. He also dwelt on the new and topical programmes started by Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Research papers written and presented by the faculty members and scientists working arduously at Amity, patents filed by the scientists and researchers, National and International Accreditations received by the University and other accomplishments.
Blessing the graduands, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group said that Amity University has fully prepared its graduands to take the world head on and they are all bound to succeed in their respective fields whether in India or abroad. He urged the graduands to have full faith in themselves and their capabilities which will help them to sail through the journey of life without any turbulence
During the ceremony, Mr. A. S. Chandhiok was conferred upon the Degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) Honoris Causa for his singular contribution through determination, focus and perseverance to provide insights for path-breaking changes in the Indian Legal System, particularly in managing resources, arbitration and jurisprudence.
Accepting the Honorary Degree,
Mr. A S Chandhiok humbly thanked the University for the honor bestowed on him and praised Amity Group and Dr. Ashok K Chauhan for laying the foundation stone of education in India. Mr. Chandhiok motivated the graduands to stop looking at what their peers are doing and focus on what they want to do in their lives and pursue that single mindedly. He called upon them to build strong character and have a complete faith in them, which will stand them in good stead throughout the life.
Mr. Dieter Manz- CEO, Manz AG was conferred an Honorary DSc. for his continuous exemplary efforts in innovating and improving technology to develop the best high quality and low cost efficient manufacturing systems for end consumers and for his strategic vision, leadership and direction to his company which have helped to make it one of the globally most respected technology companies today.
Accepting the Honoris Causa,
Mr. Dieter Manz thanked Amity University for giving him such an honor, which he will remember throughout his life. Mr. Manz stressed that India has a second biggest population in the world after China which is a challenge as well as a big opportunity. The vast workforce of India is very motivated and dedicated which can contribute actively towards the growth and success of the country. Talking about the solution of energy crisis in India, Mr. Manz, further, said that India is a country which is blessed with 300 sunny days throughout the year, therefore solar power is the perfect option for an alternative and sustainable source of energy, especially when solar panels can be produced locally with no need to export expensive panels, for which Manz AG is a service provider in Germany and has collaborations with India now. He asserted that one of the key factors on which rests the growth and success of the country is education which has the potential to produce engineers, operators, manufacturers, craftsmen and managers to run the industry. Addressing the graduands, he said that they are the most privileged to have received the best education and are , therefore, geared up to benefit India and entire world.
During the ceremony, brilliant graduands from Amity Business School, Amity International Business School, Amity School of Business, Amity Global Business School, Amity Institute of Organic Agriculture and Amity Institute of Competitive Intelligence and Strategic Management were awarded over 24 Best All Round Student Awards, 37 Gold Medals, 37 Silver Medals, 27 Bronze Medals, 4 Corporate Awards and 27 Salvers.
During the ceremony, brilliant graduands from Amity Business School, Amity International Business School, Amity School of Business, Amity Global Business School, Amity Institute of Organic Agriculture and Amity Institute of Competitive Intelligence and Strategic Management were awarded over 24 Best All Round Student Awards, 37 Gold Medals, 37 Silver Medals, 27 Bronze Medals, 4 Corporate Awards and 27 Salvers.
