13th Sangathan-a month long Inter- institutional mega sports event” culminates amidst zeal and fervor at Amity

To salute the sterling passion and steady determination of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group to bring about a change in the world through education and beyond, a month long Inter- institutional mega sports event, “ Sangathan” is celebrated every year in Amity. The event culminates on his birthday with motley celebrations and felicitation ceremony at Amity Campus, Sector- 125, Noida.

The much awaited day of culmination finally arrived with the entire Amity Campus, Noida engulfed in festive and colorful spirit, Sangathan flags unfurling all over and thousands of cheerful Amity students and faculty members thronging the grounds.

The ceremony started with “Army Brass Band” playing mellifluous music and welcoming the august guests, which was accompanied by an impressive and well- coordinated March Past in which over 107 Contingents from Amity Indian Military College, Amity International Schools, Amity Universities, all Indian and International campuses of Amity including those from Mauritius, Dubai, London and Singapore and Amity First Grade Force participated. In Senior Category, the Marching Contingent from Amity Institute of Education, Delhi was announced the Best Marching Contingent and in Junior Category, Amity International School, Pushp Vihar’s Contingent was announced the Best Marching Contingent.

Sports Captains of Amity Institute of Biotechnology, who were last year Sangathan’s Runners up lit the Khel Jyoti and handed it over to the Sports Captains of the last year Sangathan’s winners, which was the combined team from Amity Institute of Aerospace Engineering/ Amity Institute of Nanotechnology/ Amity Institute of Space Sciences/ Amity Institute of Nuclear Science.

Welcoming the august gathering and presenting a summary of “ Sangathan 2011”, Dr. Alka Munjal, Chairperson, Organising Committee, Sangathan – 2011 traced the genesis of Sangathan back to 1999 when the entire event was conceptualized and elaborated how “ Sangathan” phenomenally grew every year in terms of magnitude and participation of students. She, further, revealed that over 12, 000 students and 600 faculty members enthusiastically participated in various competitive events of “ Sangathan 2011”. She highlighted that over 15, 000 Participation Certificates, 54 Rolling Trophies, 4 Champion Trophies, 75 other Trophies and 33 Cricket Trophies will be given away to the winners of various competitive events of Sangathan 2011.

Releasing the Souvenir of “ Sangathan 2011”, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group expressed his joy over the humungous participation of students and faculty members in “ Sangathan”, which is no less than a mini Olympiad. He averred that “ Sangathan” brings out all those qualities in students which are much sought after in corporate world such as healthy competition, determination to achieve, art of devising tactful strategies and understanding the moves of the competitor. He motivated students to not to feel low if they could not win trophies or medals in “ Sangathan” as the aim of Sangathan is to bring students together and teach them things which are nowhere mentioned in academic books such as the spirit of caring and sharing, values, sanskars, unity and brotherhood. He urged the students to aim high in life, make a plan, reach the height of success and show it to the entire world that Amitians are the best.

During the occasion, the Founder President of Amity launched “ Amity Digital Screens Network”, which is a hi- tech project aimed at bringing a technological revolution in the area of education. Under the project, Digital Screens will be extensively installed across all Amity campuses across India and abroad. At present, 10 pilot screens are installed in Amity University, Uttar Pradesh on a trial basis.

The youngest Amitians from AMIOWN (the caring preschool of Amity that works under the able guidance of Ms. Sapna Chauhan- Vice Chairperson, AMIOWN) put up a spectacular and colorful performance displaying their Taekwondo skils, which were widely appreciated by one and all.

In Tug of War Finals (Girls), the team of Amity Business School overpowered Amity Institute of Aerospace and in Tug of War Finals (Boys), the team of Amity Law School defeated the team of Amity International Business School.

The combined team of Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity School of Economics and Amity School of Applied Sciences lifted the Winners’ trophy of Sangathan 2011 by bagging 31 Gold Medals, 12 Silver Medals and 10 Bronze Medals. First Runners’ Up Trophy was bagged by Amity International Business School with 5 Gold Medals, 12 Silver Medals and 9 Bronze Medals and Second Runners’ Up Trophy was lifted by Amity Business School with 5 Gold Medals, 11 Silver Medals and 11 Bronze Medals.

Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh announced the end of Amity Inter Institutions Sports Meet, SANGATHAN – 2011.

This year, over 20, 000 students of higher education institutions from over 30 Amity campuses located across India and abroad enthusiastically participated in various sports events including Hockey, Cricket, football, Tennis, Swimming, Squash among others.

Also present during the occasion were Mr. Mark Basham, Regional Managing Director, BSI (Asia Pacific) along-with Mr. Venkataraman, Managing Director, BSI (India), Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International School, Ms. Sapna Chauhan- Vice Chairperson, AMIOWN, Ms. Pooja Chauhan- Vice Chairperson, Amity Humanity Foundation, Ms. Divya Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT), Amity School of Performing Arts, Mr. Aseem Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Rajasthan, Maj Gen K J Singh- Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Dr. Gurinder Singh- Pro- Vice Chancellor (I), Amity University and other senior members of management, HODs and HOIs and faculty members.
