Amity Conducted Workshop and Training in Life Saving and First Aid
There is alarmingly high rate of road accidents these days due to various reasons. Hundreds and thousands of people lost their lives for not getting First Aid on time. The accident victims bleed profusely, shout and yell for help but people simply become spectators and watch. They simply do nothing to help these victims. At times even if some people come for first aid it is found that they have inadequate knowledge about handling the injured persons which results to worse situations. Therefore, a workshop and training for life saving and first aid was organized by Amity University at Amity University Campus, Sector-125, Noida, to make people aware of some simple yet important information to save lives.
Lt. Gen. N. S. Malik and Brig. R. B. Sharma of Rashtriya Life Saving Society of India (RLSS) imparted valuable and important information on life saving and first aid to the students and employees of Amity University.
While addressing the students and staffs
Lt. Gen. N. S. Malik said that the most of the accident victims can be saved by giving proper first aid. It is not necessary that the injured persons are to be treated after reaching hospital. Preliminary initiatives before reaching hospital are of utmost importance. It cannot be ignored as the victim may die before reaching hospital. India loses 2 Lac young adults every year due to road accidents. At least fifty percent of these unfortunate people can be saved with proper first aid. Gen. Malik further said there are various techniques which people should learn and apply in practical life when required. Initially the life saver should confirm whether the person is conscious or not and make sure that the victim should be carried away to a safe place. If required mouth to mouth breathing should be provided and chests of the victim should be pumped in order to help the him/her overcome breathing problem. If the tongue of the victim is rolled inside the mouth then it is needed to put up the chin of the victim and allow free passage of air. One needs to put his ears on the chest of the victim to check whether the victim is breathing properly or not. If not breathing, then the victim needs to be given CPR ie mouth to mouth breathing twice, followed by pressure on the heart for consecutive 30 times.
This process needs to continue till proper medical care is not provided to the victim and also the external bleeding of the victim should be tried to stop at the earliest, he added.
While addressing the students and the employees
Brig. R. B. Sharma said that if there are fractures then that portion of the body should be kept intact and should not be moved as the skeletal system of human body is very sensitive. The victim should not be given any food and drink immediately after the accident. It is advisable that one wears gloves if while helping the patient who is profuse bleeding and equally important it is to give moral support to the patient and prevent him from panicking.
While addressing the students and employees present in the workshop
Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group said that Amity not only wants to give bookish knowledge to its students. It is also necessary to know the preliminary treatments required in accidents that happen in everyday life. After the workshop it is confirmed that the students and employees while required not only help themselves but also help others in need.
