Media Festival “Big Picture-2011” concludes at Amity

The two day National Annual Media Fest “Big Picture – 2011” of Amity School of Communication (ASCO) and Amity Institute of Event Management culminated with a dazzling Star Night at the Amity University Campus, Sector – 125, Noida.

Big Picture, the annual two day media festival, provides a platform for interaction between students of mass communication with eminent media personalities from the industry. The fest gives students the courage and confidence to face the industry in the current scenario and to showcase their talents through creative activities like copywriting, news reading, film making, photography and advertizing.

The Media Festival hold a Photo Exhibition titled “PIXELS” which comprises of the themes like “Safeguarding Mother Earth”, “Expression”, “Monochrome”, “Abstract”, “Wildlife” and some burning social issues. The main attraction of the Photo Exhibition was the photographs clicked by the students of “Amitasha Project” running under Amity Humanity Foundation. Under Amitasha free education, books, food, clothes and security is provided to the underprivileged girl child for the betterment of the society. The photographs clicked by these students were almost at par with the professional and experienced photographers. Harshat Walia a student of Amity School of Communication bagged the best Photograph prize which was a trip to Goa.

In “Time Code –Film Festival, six films from different colleges of Delhi/NCR were screened titled “Death Bed”, “Drugs take it all”, “Izhaar”, “Anti-Climax”, “Pratigya” and “A Mysterious Gift”.

The first and second prize went to the student students of Amity School of Communication (ASCO) for their films titled “Anti-Climax” and “A Mysterious Gift”.

Over eight bands performed in Rock and Acoustic Event. “Tapashya” a local band bagged the first prize worth Rs. 15,000. The first prize which was cash of Rs. 10,000 was shared by “Blue Belief” of Ramjas College and “ROOH” of Amity School of Engineering and Technology.

During Inter Collegiate Theatre Competition was held under the Media Festival. Sriram College of Commerce staged a play “The Experiments”, Gargi College “Portrait of a Women” & “Anahata”, Hindu College “Kya Baat Hai” and Amity School of Communication “Over My Dead Body” & “Yeh Bhi Ek Daur Hai Who Bhi Ek Daur Tha”. “Kya Baat Hai” by Hindu College bagged the first prize worth Rs. 10,000 and “Anahata” by Gargi College bagged the second prize worth Rs. 7,000.

Ad-Drive, the Advertising event, was divided into four categories namely – AD- Buzz, Kick Start, AD-Venture and AD-Dicted wherein the students got an opportunity to learn the various practical tactics of Ad- film making and advertisements in the various mediums of mass communication.

Numerous colleges from Delhi/ NCR participated in the Media Fest including Gargi College, Lady Shriram College, Kamala Nehru College, Venkateshwara College, Kirori Mall College, Sriram College of Commerce, Miranda House, Ramjas College, Hindu, Bharatiya Vidhya Bhawan, Massco Media, CRAFT, IILM, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce and many more.

The special attraction of the second day of the Media Festival was the sizzling Star Night by DJ Suketu and Bohemia during the evening.
