Amity organizes ‘Well Women’s Health Check up Camp’ in celebration of International Women’s Day Centenary

A free of cost ‘Well Women’s Health Check up Camp’ was hosted by the Media Department of Amity Group in association with Kailash Hospitals at Amity University Campus, Sector – 125, Noida. The camp aimed at spreading awareness of health and fitness amongst women of all stages and from all walks of life.

The day long Camp saw the enthusiastic participation of hundreds of female students, faculty members, Heads of Departments and Heads of Institutions from Amity who registered themselves for the free health check up camp which was inaugurated by Dr. Nandita Gusain Barthwal, Gynecologist, Kailash Hospital, Dr. Indu Bansal, Gynecologist and Administrator, Kailash Health Care Ltd, Dr. Simmi Mehra, RMO, Kailash Hostipal, Ms. Pooja Chauhan, Vice Chairperson, Amity Humanity Foundation, Ms. Divya Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT) and Amity School of Fine Arts (ASFA), Dr. Kalpana Sharma, Director, Amity School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences (ASPESS) and Ms. Savita Mehta, Vice President, Corporate Communications, Amity Group.

Presenting her welcome address Ms. Savita Mehta said “A Woman with a healthy mind and body can nurture a healthy and fit family. A Woman is responsible for the health condition of her entire family therefore the first in her to do list should be to look after and nourish her own health.” She added “All women should master the art and science of time management to find the chance to focus on the health of their mind and body in terms of healthy eating and adequate exercising”. Encouraging the audience to become more careful about their fitness she said “for a family to flourish the women need to be nourished.”

During the inaugural session of the camp Dr. Nandita Gusain Barthwal urged each woman to understand the basic fact that health development of women is directly proportional to the development of the society. She said “women essentially must become health conscious right from the time of their adolescence when their body undergoes the first biological change to the post menopausal stage when the nutritional deficiencies already incurred, take a hefty toll in the shapes of various orthopedic and neurologic problems. She advised the youngsters to go for breast screening to keep away from the threats of breast cancer and stated it is only in the process of screening that the cancer cells can be detected and therefore can be treated before it is too late.

Delivering her address Dr. Indu Bansal said “there is great need for women to realize the importance of their own health, the reason being if their fitness takes a back seat then it is certain to affect all the responsibilities that are shouldered by them whether personal or professional for the worse.” She advised to all women who are committed to their responsibilities towards work, family etc to first assume the responsibility to look after their own mental and physical health.

Presenting her inaugural address Ms. Pooja Chauhan congratulated the ‘Well Women Health camp’ based on the noble idea to spread health consciousness amongst women of all age group and said “Every woman must feel happy about her eating habits and the best way to shun the guilt of putting on the extra calories is to engage in any kind of physical activity that will serve as a source of mental rejuvenation besides burning of calories.”

Inaugurating the Camp Ms. Divya Chauhan congratulated the camp and stated that “it is not the awareness of health consciousness that is lacking, rather it is about the attitude towards health consciousness that calls for more focus.” She appealed to the entire women fraternity to look after their health (physical and mental) condition and spread the awareness further amongst those who are unaware of its vitality.

The inaugural session was followed by a stimulating interactive session between the audience, senior faculty members of various institutions of Amity and the esteemed guests wherein Dr. Simmi Mehra, Ms. Rupa Gupta, Senior Editor, Amity University Press, Dr. Harshita Sharma, Acting Head, Amity Physiotherapy College, Dr. Rama Patnaik, Director, Coordination, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Kalpana Sharma shared their enlightening views on health consciousness.

Also present during the camp were Dr. Syed Ahmed Ali, Senior Manager, Corporate Communication Relations, Kailash, Dr. Sunita Singh, Director, Admissions, Amity University Uttar Pradesh and various other Heads of Institutions of Amity. The day long health check up camp for women collected blood samples of over 112 participants. Kailash Health Care has also offered to conduct free lower abdomen Ultra Sound and Pap Smear test for Amity Women till 28th March, 2011 in their hospital during the centenary celebration of International Women’s Day.
