AITTM and AIATTR successfully concludes three day training program on Data Center for PGCIL Officers
Amity Institute of Telecom Technology and Management and Amity Institute of Advanced Telecom Training and Research successfully concluded the three days Training Program on Data Center for PGCIL Officers on 12th of March 2011. The Last day of training program started with a Welcoming of PGCIL Officers by Lt.Gen.P.D. Bhargava, Director General – AITTM, Mr.Naseem Ahmad, Vice Chairman – AIATTR and Col.O.P. Aurora, Director IIC & Telecom.
Mr. Uday Kumar, Director ITS for Global Operations in AT&T Hosting & application services division, took the first session where he started with an Introduction to Disaster Management. Mr.Uday Kumar started off with a presentation on BCP/DR Plan. He educated the audience on Techno Commercial functions in data Managed services such as Network Management, Disaster Management and hosting application services. He further spoke on database, replication strategy & clustering solutions and typical complex implementation where he explained in detail about Internet and global load balancing content distribution.
Mr. Uday Kumar further told about the objective of training which was to design a plan for Disaster Management for customers keeping in mind disaster recovery and Business continuity. He explained in detail about Recovery Time Objective (RTO), Data Recovery Objective(DRO), High level look at recovery effort, Data Recovery options, Business Impact analysis, Risk assessment conclusions for IT systems, Alternate site selection matrix & Data Privacy, Deliverables and Key cost reduction Measures.
Mr. Raghav Rao, Vice President Enterprise Services, Bharti Airtel, took the second session with an Introduction to Remote Monitoring & Data Management Services. Mr.Rao’s agenda was to educate the Officers from PGCIL about Outsourcing, Managed & Remote Services, Service Delivery Components, Remote Service Life Cycle and Market Players. He spoke about the Challenges such as Regulatory issues, Security issues specifically in financial Institutions, User Adoption and Lack of Clearly defined roadmap in most organizations for what need to be retained and what need to be outsourced. He summarized his session by giving an overview of Global Outsourcing of IT Infrastructure as a growing trend, Managed services evolving into different business models, Industry witnessing of evolving business models and Cost restructuring & Quality improvement.
Mr. Rahul Dhar, Regional Operations Head – Data Center & Managed Services, Tata Communications Ltd., Mr.Sandeep Katyal , Data Center Specialist, Microsoft and Mr. Rajat Sharma, Data Storage Specialist – EMC Square presided over the panel discussion for PGCIL Officers giving them ample space for query resolution.
