“MANFEX-2011” – National Conference on Manufacturing Excellence in Automation and Mechanical Engineering starts at Amity University Uttar Pradesh
The two day National Conference “MANFEX- 2011” by Amity School of Engineering and Technology kick started at the Amity Campus, Sector – 125, Noida.
MANFEX-2011 aims at providing a platform for industry, academia, research scholars and students for stimulating discussions and networking on various emerging trends, innovation, research results and new directions in the field of Manufacturing Excellence. MANFEX-2011 will cover various research paper / poster presentations, plenary sessions & concurrent technical sessions by lead speakers from the Industry as well as Academia.
The Conference was inaugurated by

Welcoming the august gathering,
Dr. B. Shukla, Pro-VC (A), Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Convener, MANFEX-2011, DG ASET said, “manufacturing is the base and foundation of the nation. The kind of disintegration required cannot be seen. Therefore, focus has to be given to quality of products that are manufactured which are cost effective. The objective of the conference is to make India dictate and command the service sector. MANFEX will bring lot of food for thought for the engineers. They can explore issues like logistic, global rules and regulations regarding manufacturing and automation.”
Sharing his views,
Mr. V.S. Goindi, Chairman, MD, Goindi Group, said, “Being part of the manufacturing industry for the last five decades who has been a witness to the happenings for quite some time, Manufacturing has evolved many facets. It’s a large gamut which includes automation, chemical, medicine, textile, computers to name a few. The key industrial economy sectors in India are primary, secondary, tertiary and small scale industries where manufacturing plays a significant role.
“Massive investment has been made during the post independence period in the manufacturing sector. The manufacturing sector comprised of 17 percent of total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of India where as China’s GDP was close to 50 percent. Good quality products and services play an important role in bringing manufacturing excellence. Besides, import substitution we have to be better in technology, price and quality. Therefore, India is not lagging behind the developed economies of the world. To get focus and to sustain in the industry for long innovations has become a necessity. The global competition has taught us a lot. If we can keep pace with the global competition, we can imbibe, improve and achieve excellence in the respective fields”, opined
Mr. Goindi.
Mr. Goindi also added that India is fast emerging as a global manufacturing hub in automation, computer, textile, medicine, etc. Yet, there are certain bottlenecks which need to be removed like Primitive technology, poor infrastructure, over-staffed operations and lack of latest technology. The mantra for success is higher quality with lesser manpower in a most effective manner to be initiated. Input cost is also one of the challenges which can be overcome.
Mr. V.S. Goindi concluded that innovations and confidence help India to excel in this sector.
While speaking on the manufacturing sector,
Mr. Anil Varshnay ,VP,BSES, Rajdhani Power Ltd. said, “ the methods and technologies which we apply in manufacturing of the products have to meet the global demand. Technologies need to be embedded in such a manner that the global standard is to be met. We have to give our customer the best technology. At the same time the changing dynamics of market are also to be kept in mind. Nowadays products are launched globally. Therefore, the products are to be made with a global perspective. As far the design factors of the products are concerned, it should be user-friendly. Convergence and innovation can make an economy a leader. Paradigm shifts ate to be accepted.”
The souvenir of MANFEX-2011 was released by Dr. B. Shukla, Pro-VC-(A), AUUP and the other dignitaries of the occasion.

The inauguration was followed by a Plenary session on the theme
“Global Business Environment: Key Drivers for Indian Manufacturing Sector for Global Competitiveness” by Mr. V. S. Goindi, Director, Goindi group, Mr. Dinesh Taneja,VP, Volvo Eicher and Mr. Nitin Jain, GM, JCB
During the day, a Concurrent Session on the theme
“Indian Manufacturing Competitiveness and Industry Growth – Leadership Challenges and Strategies” by Dr. Rajkumar P Singh, Director, KCTI, Bharat Forge Ltd., Mr. A Bali, Vice President, Deki Electronics and Mr. Mr. Vimal Raina, Production Head, Yamaha also took part.
An Industry Award ceremony will also take place during the event in recognition of those who have contributed to a great extent in the society with the innovative practices used in industry.
