Amity School of Engineering & Technology organises workshop Cum Competition “HACK-TRICK 2013” on Cyber Security

The workshop Cum Competition “HACK-TRICK 2013” on Cyber Security was organized by Department of Computer Science & Engineering, ASET during the AMITY YOUTH FESTIVAL in association with Wegilant Net Sol. Pvt. Ltd. and E-Cell IIT Bombay on 21st & 22nd March’ 13.

 

The main objective of the workshop was to encourage young minds to have a wide area of vision in the field of cyber security and computer forensic by motivating and encouraging our highly talented youth to actively participate in the various National and International Level Technical Symposiums, Competitions, Trainings and fulfills various industrial needs in the field of Cyber and Information Security.

 

The main Trainer of this workshop was Mr. Toshendra Kumar Sharma, MD & CEO of Wegilant Net Solution Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai. In this workshop training sessions and various products to meet the need and expectations of budding engineers were provided. In this training program, students have received a hands-on experience of Cyber Security as well as an opportunity to enhance their technical skills

 

During the workshop 60 students from various institutes and disciplines from Amity University and outside amity also were trained on cyber security & ethical hacking. The training consisted of the following four Modules and several Practical sessions:

 

1.      Ethics & Hacking, Basics of Internet, Networking & Hacking, Information gathering & Google Hacking, Windows security.

2.      SQL injections attacks, Man-in-the-middle attack, Cross site scripting attack (XSS).

3.      Phishing, cookie grabbing & Session hijacking, Social Engineering Attack.

4.      DNS Spoofing, Forging & Cyber laws.

 

The workshop covered various topics such as Network scanning & its tools (Demo), What is Google and how does it work, Google tricks (Demo), Basic hacks, SQL Query SELECT, DROP etc., SQL cheat sheets, Using source changes to bypass client side validation, Live demonstration of the attack, using SQL injection tools, Preparation for XSS attack, Introduction to JavaScript, Java script for XSS Attack, IT ACT 2000, Cyber crime/terrorism and its type, Sections in the Indian constitution Sec. 65, 66 A,B,C, D , 67, 69 etc. Penalty in all sections of Indian constitution etc… Students were provided a security tool kits in which various security tools were available. The participants were given a hands-on experience of ethical hacking & cyber security.

On the last day of the workshop, a written test was conducted for the participants to assess their learning capability in the subject. The participants also provided feedback on the workshop. The feedback has been analyzed and it was found that the participants learned a lot through this workshop. The feedback was encouraging. The participants also made some recommendations.
