Dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija -Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bosnia and Herzegovina visit Amity University
A high power delegation from Bosnia and Herzegovina led by Dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija- Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bosnia and Herzegovina and H.E Mr. Sead Avdic, Ambassador of Bosnia & Herzegovina visited Amity University, Sector- 125, Noida to discuss the potential strategic alliances between Amity University and Bosnia and Herzegovina with special reference to educational institutions.
The delegation consisted of 10 members- Mr. Ismet Kumalic and Ms. Aida Klemencic from Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Mijo Bosankic- Businessman, Mr. Sahim Zukic- Businessman, Mr. Dzemo Mustafic, Mr. Risto Dabic, Mr. Momcilo Vukovic-Counsellor of the Embassy of Bosnia & Herzegovina, Mr. Amer Kapetanovic- Assistant to Minister and others
The delegation was welcomed by Maj. Gen K J Singh- Group Vice Chancellor, Amity Universities, Dr. B Shukla- Acting Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh and other senior officials of Amity University.
During the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr. (Mrs.) B Shukla and H.E Mr. Sead Avdic, Ambassador of Bosnia & Herzegovina on behalf of Amity University and American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina respectively. The MoU aims to promote all forms of cooperation in the areas of students and academicians exchange, the promotion of scientific research, the establishment of joint programs and research centers as well as collaboration on implementation of any other projects of mutual interest.
Welcoming the distinguished guests, Dr. B Shukla said that Amity University is looking forward to establish strong linkages with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the area of academic research and excellence, student and faculty exchange. She outlined the strong International linkages of Amity University with global educational institutions and expressed her hope to have similar mutually rewarding and harmonious association with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Expressing his joy on visiting Amity University and delivering a very impressive speech, Dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija- Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bosnia and Herzegovina stated that Bosnia is a small country with over 4 million people and remarked that Bosnia and other countries have to learn a lot from India especially, the way, Indians from diverse religions, cultures stay together, representing perfect unity in diversity. He encouraged the people to use technology in a friendly manner and use it to make human beings better. He called for promoting the values of shared societies which is possible through education. The countries worldwide can ensure bright future only through promoting shared societies.
Expressing his views, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group thanked the Foreign Minister and Ambassador of Bosnia & Herzegovina for reposing trust in Amity Group of Institutions and signing an MoU with Amity, which he stressed would act as a “Springboard” to the proposed alliances envisioned between the educational institutions of both the countries. Dr. Chauhan also expressed his desire to initiate industrial and commercial collaboration with Bosnia thereby, mutually benefitting the economies of both the countries.

Sharing his views and expressing his joy over the signing of MoU, Mr. Sead Avdic, Ambassador of Bosnia & Herzegovina said American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a very young University, which offers multi- disciplinary scientific and educational programmes. He read out the message of Mr. Denis Prcic -President of American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina in which he thanked Amity University and its Founder President for the association. H.E assured that the MoU will be implemented in letter and spirit by American University and there will be no let up in efforts.
The Foreign Minister and Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina carried on detailed discussions with the Directors and Head of the Institutions to mull over the areas of potential cooperation. Amongst various outlined areas were health and energy security related areas which could promote inclusive growth for both the countries. It was mutually agreed upon to earmark and prioritize these two areas and identify core –competencies of both the countries. Representatives from Chamber of Commerce also agreed to lend the requisite support to the association by providing group of people who can make actionable goals.
The delegation was taken around the splendid Campus of Amity University and was shown Amity Innovation Incubator, Amity University Online and hi- tech laboratories of Amity Institute of Advanced Research and Studies, Amity Institute of Microbial Technology, Amity Institute of Nano Technology, Amity Institute of Biotechnology.
The eminent delegates praised state of the art infrastructure, the vast bouquet of courses offered by Amity University through latest pedagogy and delivery mechanisms including ICT.
