Amity Institute of Education, New Delhi organises Workshop on the theme "Designing of Achievement Tests for Effective Evaluation of Students’ learning"
Amity Institute of Education, New Delhi - Grade A Accreditation from NAAC (An Institution of Ritnand Balved Education Foundation-RBEF) under the visionary guidance of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, RBEF inaugurated its two days workshop on the 21st of March 2013 at its Saket Campus.
Based on the past records and meritorious work, this workshop has been granted to the institute by Dr. M. Balakumar, Head National Testing Service – India, Centre for Testing and Evaluation, Mysore, A department of the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Govt. of India. It is because of his dynamic and progressive thinking that Amity Institute of Education was considered for this grant. The participants of this workshop were school teachers from reputed schools of Delhi NCR.
The Chief Guest for the inaugural session was Prof. Keshari Lal Verma, Chairman, Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology & Director, Central Hindi Directorate MHRD, Department of Higher Education, Govt. of India.
Ms. Divya Chauhan, Vice Chairperson, Amity School of Performing Arts, Amity School of Fine Arts and Amity School of Fashion Technology and Dr. D. S. Rathore, Former Vice Chancellor, Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur were also present on this occasion.
Dr. Ranjana Bhatia, Prof. & Principal, Amity Institute of Education welcomed the guests and assured the at the end of the workshop the participants would be better equipped to handle the challenges of assessment and would contribute towards a healthier evaluation system in the field of school education.
In the inaugural address Prof Verma emphasized upon the significance of Evaluation in the era of globalization. He opined that the need of the hour is ‘quality in education’ which is directly proportional to the evaluation system. Highlighting the parameters of newly implemented CCE in school education he encouraged the teachers to not only evaluate the child in academics but also non scholastic and co curricular activities. He stressed on the necessity of initiating a Self evaluation system for teachers too, so that a teacher can quantify her own learning and improvise on her teaching styles. He stated that India is fortunate to have 50% of its population in the youth phase and hence we the educators should make the best of this situation and hone their skills and personality through a uniform evaluation system for the progress of the nation.
