Amity Law School, Centre II organises National Seminar on “Police and Internal Security”
Amity Law School, Centre II in association with Bureau of Police Research and Development, New Delhi organized a National Seminar on “Police and Internal Security” at Amity University Campus, Noida.
The valediction ceremony was graced by Hon'ble Mrs. Justice Gyan Sudha Misra Judge, Supreme Court of India, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Manmohan Sarin, Lokayukta, Delhi, Former Chief Justice, Jammu & Kashmir High Court, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Lokeshwar Prasad- Retd. Judge, Delhi High Court, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group Mr. R P Singh- IPS (Retd.)- Director General, Amity Institute of Training and Development for Police and Security Personnel and Prof. Mamta Srivastava- Additional Director, Amity Law School, Centre II.
While sharing her views on “Reforms in administration of Criminal Justice”, Hon'ble Mrs. Justice Gyan Sudha Misra Judge, Supreme Court of India referred to the recent incidence of Delhi Gang Rape which jolted everybody in the country to deliberate, probe and exercise the consciousness to assist the administration of justice in each organ of the society. Talking about the constraints faced by police, Hon'ble Mrs. Justice Gyan Sudha Misra remarked “police have to bear social pressures, societal pressures; they are most often pulled up for dereliction of duty but in spite of all the stress, their contribution to justice delivery system cannot be undermined.”Stressing the changes required in Criminal Law , Hon'ble Mrs. Justice Gyan Sudha Misra said that CRPC is inherited from Anglo-Saxon jurisprudence and it is high time to dissolve the water tight compartments in the system-Legislature, Judiciary and Executive (Police).In India, the confession statement made in front of the Police is not considered admissible in Court unlike the French justice delivery system, where the statement is made in front of police and judicial representative together and sealed for court proceedings later. She advocated that the similar system with few modulations could be adopted in India to accelerate the justice delivery in the country.
Speaking during the occasion on the need for women empowerment, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Manmohan Sarin, Lokayukta, Delhi stressed that gender inequality is a universal phenomenon, faced by women across the globe. Citing UN report on Global status of women, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Manmohan Sarin shared that women constitute half of the total population of the globe, they are performing 2/3rd of the total work globally but are given just 1/10th of the global income and only negligible percentage of women globally hold any property. Justice Sarin called for a change in the underlining attitude in the society which considers women subservient and inferior to men. He advocated the continuous promotion of women education in the country for making them empowered and independent.
Dr. Ashok K Chauhan thanked all the legal luminaries who interacted with the budding lawyers of Amity Law School and enriched them with experience. Dr. Chauhan assured that the budding lawyers of Amity will bring about a reform in the society thorough their meticulous efforts.

During the day four technical sessions took place- "Internal Security Laws: Their Implications", “Police Reform: Need of the Hour"," Globalization and Trans-National Criminal Networks" and " Women Empowerment and Changing Mind Set" wherein eminent speakers including Mr. Lok Nath Behera, IG, National Investigation Agency, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, Ms. Suman Nalwa, Additional DCP, Crime Against Women Cell, N.Delhi, Sri Rakesh Srivastava, Director, Judges Library, Supreme Court of India, Mr. P.N.Nair, D.G., National Disaster Response Force, Mr. Vikram Kapoor, Senior Advocate, Delhi High Court and others shared their views.
