Amity Centre for Developmental Cooperation & Alliances organises five day long “INSPIRE' Internship Program

Amity Centre for Developmental Cooperation & Alliances has organized the five day long “INSPIRE Internship Program” from 8 to 12 Jan 2013 in association with Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India at Amity University, Sector-125, Noida. The main purpose of the camp is to enhance interest of students towards basic sciences. The camp will cover areas of natural sciences, with emphasis on interdisciplinary aspects. Students will be introduced to unknown domains of science going beyond known and factual knowledge.

 

The participants are the School students of Science stream from class XI and XII of Bal Bharati Public School, Rajkiya, Inter College, Noida, Bhawani Shanker Inter College, Sadar Sarai, Shri Krishna Inter College, Nehru Samarak Inter College, SakiPur, Km. Mayawati Government Girl, Mihir Bhoj Balika Inter CollegeDadri and Shree Sant Vinova Inter College. All five days, students will get an opportunity to interact with eminent scientists as their mentors from various national institutes like AIIMS, CDRI- Lucknow, NII and Delhi University, etc.

 

Welcoming the august gathering, Dr. Panchanan Sah, Assistant Director, Amity Centre for Developmental Cooperation & Alliances said that this is a very informative program. The basic purpose of this program is to inspire students to choose Science as their stream and let them know more about the importance of Science and Technology. It is a unique program and an opportunity where students will be meeting the scientists and specialists of different science streams.  After five days of this internship program “INSPIRE” all the students would be filled with all knowledge about importance Science and Technology in our lives remarked Dr. Panchanan.

 

Addressing the gathering Mr. Niraj Sharma, Program Director, Royal Bank of Scotland Foundation, India said that what has been done or can be done for the betterment of Science in our country is very important. He suggested students to do things which are beyond imagination and research work can help a lot which is a powerful tool to gain knowledge about anything. Science is a brick of technology, in these five days you’ll be exposed to different aspects of Science & technology. “Mathematics is also a Science” remarked Mr. Niraj. Inculcate the habit of reading Newspapers, Science Magazines and Journals to gain knowledge about current developments in the field of Science. Knowledge about what is going in the whole world helps in growing professionally and becoming a better human being. Science stream gives you results slowly and steadily but once the success is achieved in this stream, the results are magnificent. Read as extensively as possible and never forget that Science makes education precious. To succeed in life vision is important therefore set your goals of life from now remarked Mr. Niraj.

 

Delivering the key notes Dr. Shashi Wadhwa, Dean, AIIMS said that Science is a very important aspect of everyday in our life. She shared the challenges and excitement of practicing science, and presented a wide variety of topics not limited to their own areas of interest. Generate the curiosity to know more about any new topic and keep your minds more open for the question “WHY” as it gives you an opportunity to enhance your knowledge. She also talked about the typical factors in daily life that may be stressful such as environment, boring or monotonous tasks, competition, dissatisfaction and etc. “As a science student there is a need to understand the development of the human embryo and basic understanding of the developing brain” remarked Dr. Shashi. She also shared the knowledge about environmental Constraints causing stress like Lead, mercury, Polychlorinated biphenyls, Cadmium, Manganese, Organophosphate and Organochlorine pesticides.

 

The topics discussed in panel discussion were Genetics, stem cells, health related issues. Moreover, Hands-on session (Science Cartoons) with practical ventures by participants, Physics lab, fun with Mathematics, Aerospace 3-D Planetarium Show & science movies were also organized.
