Over 2,331 graduands receive Degrees/ Diplomas during the second day of “Convocation 2012 at Amity University
Amity University has organized its three day “Convocation 2012” from December 12-14, 2012 at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida. Over 10,817 successfully qualified Graduands of several Programs will receive UG and PG Degrees, Diplomas, Trophies and Medals respectively.
During the Second day of Convocation, 2012, over 2, 331 graduands from 9 Institutions - Amity Business School, Amity International Business School, Amity School of Business, Amity Institute of Competitive Intelligence and Strategic Management, Amity Institute of NGO Management, Amity School of Rural Management, Amity School Of Insurance, Banking & Actuarial Science, Amity School of Urban Management, Amity College of Commerce & Finance and Amity Business School, Lucknow were awarded Degrees/ Diplomas.
The ceremony commenced with the procession being led by CRPF band. The procession comprised of Trustees of the Management, Senior officials of RBEF and Directors of various institutes of Amity University and thereafter, Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh declared the Convocation open.
Presenting the brief report of Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Dr. B Shukla- Acting Vice Chancellor highlighted the achievements of the faculty members, researchers, scientists and students of Amity. She informed the gathering that Ms. Nupur Pandey – alumni of AIBS is the only Indian amongst 17 candidates selected across the globe by Allianz, world’s largest Insurance Company. Mr. Rupin Pawa- student of MBA has joined Google at 28 Lakhs p. a Package and Mr. Vipul Jhaghodia- student of Amity Business School has been offered a package of Rs. 22 lacs at Prudential Foundation. Dr. Shukla also shared the strong industrial linkages of Amity with organizations like TCS, Nokia Siemens, CISCO, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Deloitte, Accenture, GE Capital, HT, Vodafone and many more. Dr. Shukla apprised the gathering with the MoUs that Amity University has signed with more than 50 Foreign Universities/institutions for joint research projects and Academic Exchange programmes in the year 2011-12.
Congratulating the graduands and their families, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group said that Amity graduands should be called “distinguished achievers who have the capacity and capability to change the country and change the world”. Dr. Chauhan urged the graduands to be amongst the best in their profession and advised them that if they determine to achieve success in their lives, nobody can deter them. Indians are the best in the world and Amity students have no parallel worldwide since they have been empowered with the education which is a combination of best of East (values, ethics and sanskaars) and West (Latest information delivered through latest technology).
Dr. Ashok Seth- Director, Cardiology Society of India, Dr. V K Saraswat- DRDO Chief and Dr. Mahesh Sharma-MLA, Noida and Chairman & Managing Director, Kailash Health Care Ltd were awarded Honorary Doctorate Degrees (Honoris Causa) in Science by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools, Mr. Atul Chauhan, Mr. Aseem Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Rajasthan, Maj Gen K J Singh- Group Vice Chancellor, Amity Universities and Mr. D V Singh- Visitor, Amity University.
Thanking the University for conferring Honorary Doctorate Degree and calling Dr. Ashok K Chauhan “the architect of Global India”, Dr. Ashok Seth- Director, Cardiology Society of India narrated his personal journey of success, urging the graduands not to be scared of failures in life because the experience of failures will make them realize the real value of success. “To be successful, a person needs a combination of personality ethics (power dressing, communication skills) and character ethics (compassion, integrity, sincerity, honesty). Personality ethics will dissolve over a period of time but Character ethics would take you ahead in your life.” advised Dr. Seth. Stressing on the importance of Spirituality, Dr. Seth further said that the present generation has witnessed the biggest transformation in terms of technology, latest gadgets and products, which has enamored it to the extent that they have starting considering themselves as “Demi-Gods”. He called upon the gathering to understand that there are things beyond the control of human beings, which are regulated by the “ Supreme Power”, governing the destiny of every human being. He remarked that spirituality put together with Science will guide human beings as to how they can live in the world.
Accepting the Honorary Doctorate Degree, Dr. Mahesh Sharma-MLA, Noida and Chairman & Managing Director, Kailash Health Care Ltd said that the time has when the country and nation should honor the great visionary Dr. Ashok K Chauhan who is leading the education revolution in the country. He called upon the graduands to rise above self interest and self pursuits in order to be become a good human being and serve humanity. He congratulated all the graduands and urged them to take the name of their Institution higher and make their teachers and parents proud with their deeds
Dr. V K Saraswat- DRDO Chief expressed his heart felt gratitude for being conferred Honorary Doctorate Degree and referred to Amity as the “Convergence of best brains across the country” working diligently to make a developed country. Stressing on the role of Science, Technology and Innovation in the growth of a country, Dr. Saraswat said that Science and Technology are the real vehicle for the development of the country and have made a real impact in every sector of the economy. Quoting Former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the speaker said that it is time that Science, Technology and Innovation come out of the laboratories in a speedy manner and contribute to the needs of the common people. Innovation has become the vehicle of growth today. He expressed his delight for being associated with DRDO which is spearheading the innovation in Defence and shared his desire to strengthen the existing association and collaboration between Amity University and DRDO in the near future.
During the ceremony, 6 PhD’s were awarded in the field of management. The proud recipients included Mr. Triveni Singh- Deputy SP, Cyber Crime Cell, Noida, Mr. Bijay Kr. Srivastava, Mr. Rabindra Kumar, Mr. Sanjay Sapru, Mr. Shailendra Choksi and Ms. Anupama R
During the occasion, 22 graduands were given “ Best All Round Student Awards” including Mr. Sheth Bhavarth Urvish Kumar-MBA (Amity Business School), Mr. Amlan Dutta- MBA- International Business (Amity International Business School), Mr. Japneet Singh Sethi- BBA- Marketing and Sales (Amity School of Business), Ms. Diviani Khanna- Bachelor of Commerce – Honours (Amity College of Commerce & Finance), Mr. Raaja Priya M-MBA (Amity Global Business School, Chennai), Mir Dastagir Ali Khan- MBA (Amity Global Business School, Hyderabad) and others
22 Gold Medals, 21 Silver Medals and 12 Bronze medals were awarded to the graduands who were ranked First, Second and Third in Academic Performance.
