Dr V.N Sharma -Senior Director, Electrical Power Systems, RBEF delivers lecture on “India’s Power Sector Scenario Expectation and Challenges” during AIC lecture series at Amity University
Amity International Centre invited Dr V.N Sharma -Senior Director, Electrical Power Systems, RBEF to deliver a talk on “India’s Power Sector Scenario Expectation and Challenges”. The talk was organized as part of the 152nd lecture under the AIC lecture series.
While speaking on the topic, Dr V.N Sharma –Sr. Director, Electrical Power Systems RBEF said that electricity (power) is a specific form of energy, which cannot be stored. He highlighted that the total consumption of State, Central and Private Sector is 199765 (MW) in which State Consumption is 43%,Central is 29%,Private 27% .The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of India has been growing at the rate of about 8% for the last several years. The liberalization and globalization of the economy is leading to an increased tempo in industrial and commercial activities and this, coupled with penetration of technology and I.T. in the day-to-day life of the common man, is expected to result in a high growth in power demand. It is, therefore, essential that development of the Power Sector should commensurate with the overall economic growth of the nation. Dr Sharma said that power sector needs growth because consumption of electricity is increasing and the country are facing lots of challenges towards of providing adequate power needed to fuel the growing economy of the country.
Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President – Amity Group said that consumption of electricity is increasing and there should be careful consumption of electricity. Huge consumption of electricity is becoming a big issue. The progress of a country depends on its growth and development and power sector plays an important role in it.
