"Corporate Meet on the theme “Employability Issues in India” Organized by Amity Business School Manesar”

Amity Business School, Manesar organized its Corporate Meet at Hotel Crowne Plaza, Gurgaon. The Corporate Meet is an annual event of Amity Business School, Manesar, where eminent personalities both from Corporate and Academia are invited for an interaction with students and faculty with a view to pool ideas and opinions for mutual advantage and developing close relationship. The theme of this year Corporate Meet is “Employability Issues in India: An Industry Academia Confluence”. The meet provides a common platform to strengthen the industrial–academic relations through experience sharing, networking and thus creative a synergy of interests.

The meet was inaugurated by Internationally acclaimed Boxer- Mr. Vijender Singh, Padma Shri Brig. (Dr.) Arvind Lal, Chairman & Managing Director, Dr Lal Path labs, Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Additional President, Ritnand Balved Education foundation & Chancellor – Amity University Rajasthan, Dr. R.C. Sharma, Vice Chancellor – Amity University Haryana with the lighting of the Lamp.

Olympian Boxer- Mr. Vijender Singh said that students should equip themselves to the changes taking place and advised the students on how to face the challenge. Mr. Singh said that whether you are student, business man or sports person- setting up of the goals are the most important factor to achieve success in life. Mr. Singh said that behind every success there is years of hard work involved. Success can not be achieved without sacrifice, dedication and honesty. He also advised students to build inner strength and be courageous to put forth their point and convince others.

Padma Shri Brig. (Dr.) Arvind Lal, Chairman & Managing Director, Dr Lal Path labs lauded the efforts done by Amity in providing quality management education and shared valuable tips to face interview with the students. He said that introduce yourself to the employer properly. While going for an interview one should be confident, properly dressed and not arrogant and have clarity in thoughts. Posture should be straight and always build eye contact with the interviewer. Dr. Lal further added that one should never criticize previous employer or institute.

Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Additional President, Ritnand Balved Education foundation & Chancellor – Amity University Rajasthan said that said that there will be challenges in every step that you move ahead in life, it’s the passion to succeed, the education and the strong belief in oneself and god that will drive you through”. Mr. Chauhan said that the present meet will provide a platform to understand the ‘employability gap’ that exist today and the various challenges which needs to be address in changing environment, where, technology and innovation driving the business and ensuring to generate a rich, employable talent to meet the global challenges with a well-coordinated approach and promised the industry experts that Amity will follow the guidelines expressed by the industry in order to get good jobs for the students.

Inauguration was followed by Panel Discussion wherein Mr. Rajnish Datta, President - HR, Yes Bank said that the new market forces have placed management institutions with the additional responsibility of producing new managerial talent that meets the need of a changing corporate world. Today India has more than 2400 B Schools and out of 1,90,000 management graduates only 4.2% are fit to work. Rest of them are not unemployable due to many factors like lack of soft skils, area of expertise etc.

Mr. Sandeep Dhar, CEO, Tesco HSC remarked that events like Corporate Meet spread awareness to develop the managerial effectiveness among students. It also attempts to encourage the students to undertake various activities, which demonstrate their leadership and managerial capabilities”. He further emphasized on the growing needs for smart entrepreneurs in the growing competitive environment. Today’s corporates are operating in a global arena that itself is undergoing major changes because of the globalization of markets and fierce competition, echoed Mr. Dhar.

The other panelists of the corporate meet were Mr. Nelson Lobo, Vice President - Trade Finance and Cash Management - Deutsche Bank, Mr. Ajay Chowdhury, Group Head (HR), SRF Ltd., Mr. Debashis Biswas, Vice president HR, Star TV, Mr. Abhishek Asthana, Associate Director, KPMG, Ms. Ramona Miranda, Founder & Managing Director, Potencia Mentis, Mr. Kunal Bhadoo, MD & Chairman, Kunskapsskolan Eduventures Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Rajesh Nandawan, Vice President, Talent Search & Recruitment, EXL who shared their views on the theme of the meet and most of them agreed that industry need to work with the academia, be it designing curriculum, sharing practical experiences, creating internship opportunities, be mentors to the students.
