Over 4, 352 Engineers receive Degrees/ Diplomas during the first day of “Convocation 2012 at Amity University

Happiness, gaiety, excitement, contentment and varied emotions marked “ Convocation 2012” of Amity University ,Uttar Pradesh which was attended by over 4352 successfully qualified Graduands of several Programs enrolled in 13 Institutions from Noida and Lucknow.

 

Graduands who had come from different parts of the country, accompanied by their family members and friends presented a perfect picture of India’s rich cultural diversity and unity in diversity. The faces of the Graduands beamed with joy and exultation as they re- united with their faculty members, and mentors  who were equally excited to see their students doing exceptionally well in their careers within a short duration of time.

 

The ceremony commenced with the procession being led by the band from CRPF. The procession comprised of Trustees of the Management, Senior officials of RBEF and Directors of various institutes of Amity University and thereafter, Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh declared the Convocation open

 

Presenting the brief report of Amity University, Uttar Pradesh and its achievements, Dr. B Shukla- Acting Vice Chancellor highlighted the great expanse of Amity Group which include five Amity Universities and various National and International campuses. She appraised the gathering with the prestigious accreditations received by the University during the last year including Grade “A” Accreditation by NAAC and shared that scientists and researchers of Amity have filed over 381 patents during the last few years. . Dr. Shukla dwelt on the various glorious achievements of the students including the designing of breakthrough concept cars, which brought laurels to the institution and the country

 

During the occasion, Ms. Helen Brand-CEO, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)was awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree in Doctor of Philosophy(Honoris Causa) and Dr. Shiv Sarin- Director, Institute of Liver and Biliary Science (ILBS) was awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree in Science (Honoris Causa) by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools, Mr. Atul Chauhan, Mr. Aseem Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Rajasthan, Maj Gen K J Singh- Group vice Chancellor, Amity Universities and Dr. D V Singh- Visitor, Amity University

 

Congratulating the graduands and their families, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group said that Amity graduands should be called “brilliant achievers who have the capacity and capability to change the country and change the world”. Dr. Chauhan praised the parents for making the discreet choice of getting their children enrolled in Amity and securing their future thereof. Dr. Chauhan urged the graduands to be amongst the best in their profession and advised them that if they determine to achieve success in their lives, nobody can deter them. Indians are the best in the world and Amity students have no parallel worldwide since they have been empowered with the education which is a combination of best of East (values, ethics and sanskaars) and West (Latest information delivered through latest technology). Sharing his own mantra of success, Dr. Chauhan shared with students the acronym of “BHAAG” wherein “B” stands for Behavioural Science, “H” stands for Hard Work (Strategic), “A” stands for Attitude( right), “ “A” stands for Ambition and “G” stands for God

 

While accepting the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Philosophy, Ms. Helen Brand expressed her heart felt gratitude to Amity University and said that Convocation is a much awaited occasion for all the students since their hard work and efforts are well paid off in the form of the Degree which  they receive during the Convocation. “ Training, development and education are very important to be successful in life and education is the springboard to life long learning. Workplaces and the way they operate keep on changing across the globe which necessitates regular updating of knowledge in order to avoid redundancy. It is essential to keep learning from oneself and others- senior and juniors” remarked Ms. Brand. Ms. Brand stressed that the world economy is changing and the world is ,now, looking forward to India for its brains and at the same time, India is also trying to grow its pool of talent, which is reflected in the graduands of Amity who have been significantly benefitted from the symbiotic relationship promoted by Amity between academia and corporate. She congratulated the graduands and wished them bright future.

ACCA works  through a network of over 80 offices and centres and more than 8,500 Approved Employers worldwide, who provide high standards of employee learning and development.

While delivering his acceptance speech, Dr. Shiv Sarin- Director, Institute of Liver and Biliary Science (ILBS) said that he is honoured and humbled by the Honorary degree bestowed upon him by the University. Dr. Sarin shared with graduands interesting anecdotes driving home the importance of being the “best” in everything field especially academics. He called upon the graduands to have confidence in them that they can achieve anything and everything. Praising Dr. Chauhan for keeping ardent  faith in the graduands that they would do better than their mentors and their achievements will surpass very set horizon, Dr. Sarin opined that a mentor should always nurture the mentee in such a way that he becomes better than the mentor, rather than just being a mere protégée of the mentor. Dr. Sarin called upon the graduands to work diligently towards their goals and ambition and stressed that “dreams are not those which you see while you are sleeping but they are those which don’t let you sleep”

During the occasion, 16 graduands were awarded “ Best All Round Student Awards” including Ms. Anubha Gulati- B. Tech- Computer Science and Engg.(Amity School of Engineering and Technology), Mr. Satyam Kumar- B. Tech- Electronics and Communication Engg (.(Amity School of Engineering and Technology), Mr. Praveen Pushkar- MCA (Amity Institute of Information Technology), Ms. Esheta Dua- B. Tech- Electronics and Telecommunications( Amity Institute of Telecom Technology and Management), Ms. Sakshi Jain- MSc. (Amity Institute of Biotechnology) and others

 

44 Gold Medals , 44 Silver Medals and 29 Bronze medals were awarded for First, Second and Third in Academic Performance.

 

 24 graduands who exemplified the best in human and traditional values were felicitated with “SHRI BALJIT SHASTRI AWARD” including Ms. M Priyanka Raja- B. Tech- Computer Science and Engineering, Mr. Ashish Sen- B. Tech- electronics and Communication Engineering, Ms. Aditi Chandrs- B. Tech- Mechanical and Automation Engineering, Nitya Jain- B. Tech- civil Engineering, Ms. Kavita- MSc.- Microbial Technology,  Mr. Dheeraj Menghi- B. Tech- Aerospace Engineering and others.

 

3 Special Corporate Awards, instituted by the Corporate to promote the talent amongst the atudents, were also given during the Ceremony.  “EMC2 Technopreneurial Excellence Award” was given to Mr. Lavi Nigam- B. Tech- Information Technology, “Alcatel-Lucent Award – Excellence in Innovation (Telecom) 2011-12” was bestowed upon Mr. Akshay Gupta- B. Tech- Electronics and Telecommunication and Ms. Sayeda Aleya F Ahmed- B. Tech- Electronics and Telecommunication.
