Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group confers Honorary Fellowships to eminent National and International Cardiologists during the 8th Convocation Ceremony of Cardiological Society of India
Cardiological Society of India (CSI) has organized 64th Annual Conference and SAARC Cardiac Congress from December 6-9, 2012 at Hotel Ashoka, New Delhi. The discussions and deliberations of the Conference are centered on “Cardiology in India- Prevention and Intervention”
The Conference aims at apprising the practicing physicians with the recent developments in their respective fields, so that the benefit can percolate to the patients at large. A galaxy of eminent International speakers is attending the Conference including leaders from American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology and EURO PCR.
During the four day Conference, 8th Convocation Ceremony was held on December 7, 2012 which was moderated by Dr. H.K. Chopra, Senior Consultant & Cardiologist – Moolchand Medcity & Vice President – Cardiological Society of India wherein Honorary Fellowships were awarded to 14 Indian CSI Members and 6 International Cardiologists by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group of Institutions, Prof. Devendra Gupta, Vice Chancellor, King George Medical University who were the Chief Guests of the occasion, along with Dr. Ashok Seth , President - Cardiological Society of India, Dr. P.K. Deb, President-elect, Cardiological Society of India, Dr. Santana Guha, General Secretary, Cardiological Society of India and Dr. Samuel Mathew, Chairman-Fellowship Committee, Cardiological Society of India
Sharing his thoughts and welcoming the distinguished gathering, Dr. Ashok Seth, President - Cardiological Society of India said that Annual Meeting of CSI gives an opportunity to the top leaders and doctors of CSI to assemble at one place and contribute immensely to the development of country by way of important discussions which lucidly bring out the latest advances in the field of Cardiology and related sciences. Dr. Seth stressed that fellowship of CSI is a privilege and along with this privilege comes the responsibility of being exemplary, inspirational, reflecting the ethos of CSI and aspirational. He called upon all the members of CSI to focus on their profession, nurture in them a passion for patient care and hence, contribute to the humanity and society at large.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group of Institutions who is a great philanthropist and visionary par excellence expressed his joy for being a part of the historical event. Dr. Chauhan remarked that Cardiology is a great human service and a Cardiologist is a messenger of God who takes care of the most important organ of human body. Patients always remember the doctor who attends them and consider them at par with God. Dr. Chauhan stressed that Cardiology is an expression which reflects the Growth of GDP globally. He hoped that the Conference, with its erudite speakers and topical technical sessions, would bring out the synergy of the best of East and West, benefitting the patients across the globe.
Expressing his delight to be amongst the galaxy of world renowned Cardiologists, Prof. Devendra Gupta- Vice Chancellor, King George Medical University, Lucknow stated that cardiology is the most wanted, noble and respected profession. CSI and its member cardiologists are respected widely for projecting the positive image of the health care sector of the country nationally and internationally. Dwelling on the Cardio related problems which are ever increasing in the society, Prof. Gupta opined that Indian lifestyle has undergone a sea change with the advancement of new facilities. The important concern is younger generation which is easily falling prey to cardiac problems. As far as using latest technology in treating these problems is concerned, India is not lagging. At the same time, clinical assessment should not be lost in the bargain; clinical science should remain at the top. Over –investigation must be checked and the fraternity of doctors should serve the patients with best intentions, keeping in mind the interest of the patients. Prof. Gupta lamented the dearth of adequate beds, OPDs’ and even doctors in India. He stressed that Indian doctors should possess academic skills as well as investigative skills and provide compassionate care to the patients.
Talking about the honorary fellowships conferred during the 8th Convocation Ceremony of CSI, Dr. P K Deb- President, Elect- CSI said that the recipients of Honorary fellowships have been screened meticulously and after qualifying strict criteria, 14 Indian CSI members and 6 International delegates are awarded scholarships which is a testimony of their remarkable contributions in their respective fields. He congratulated all the recipients.
The 20 out of 4000 National and International members of CSI were the recipients of Honorary fellowships which included Dr. Suresh V Patted- Belgaum; Dr. Prabhu C Halkati- Belgaum; Dr. Prashant Kumar Sahoo – Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar; Dr Prashant Upasini, Sr. Consultant Cardiology from Metro Heart Institute, Noida; Dr. G. Karthikeyan- Madras Medical College; Dr. Ashok Dhar- Kolkatta; Dr. Jacob Jose- Christian Medical College, Vellore; Dr. John Gordon Harold, USA ; Dr. Roberto Ferrari - Italy ; Dr. Navin C Nanda, USA; Dr. Bernard Gersh USA and Dr. Dipti Itchhaporia, USA .
The prestigious Convocation concluded with the enchanting melodies from magic fingers of “Brian Silas”.
