Eminent Australian curators interact with students of Amity during lecture series ‘Conversation with Artists’

As a part of the guest lecture series ‘Conversation with Artists’ under Amity Arts Foundation, the students of  Amity International Schools and Amity University received the golden opportunity to interact with two eminent Australian Curators from FORM– Ms. Monique Lafontaine and Ms. Sharmila Wood at Amity Campus Sector-125, Noida.

 

Ms. Divya Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity School of Fine Arts, Amity School of Fashion Technology & Amity School of Performing Arts welcomed the curators and gave a brief introduction about the event. She briefed the audience about the mammoth accomplishments of Amity Arts Foundation which acts as a platform to introduce all art forms to the students of Amity by providing them ample opportunities to interact with eminent artists across the globe and gain hands on experience from them

 

Ms. Monique Lafontaine apprised the students that FORM is an independent, not for profit organization dedicated to advocating and developing creativity in Western Australia. She briefed the students about the enormous artistic work being initiated by FORM under the project “ The Canning Stock Route Project” in 2006 by involving the aboriginal people of Australia, thereby saving the rich cultural heritage of the country and recording it and passing it on to the new generations in the form of paintings and documentaries. “The Project beautifully brings out the stories and aspirations of the artists, the cultural diversity of Aboriginal communities and their interconnections with each other and their part in a greater Australian story”, shared the Curator

 

Ms. Sharmila Wood shared her unique and engrossing experiences while working for “Pilbara Project”. She shared the various photographs clicked by the photographers highlighting the cultural diversity existing in Pilbara including Indian Photographer, Bharat Sikka, Christian Fletcher, Peter Eastway, filmmaker Michael Fletcher and writer William L. Fox who toured the Pilbara, creating stories through images and words. The Curator invited the students of Amity University to explore Pilbara and express their experience through their works of creativity and uploading them on the website of the Project.

 

Also present during the occasion were Ms. Hema Singh- Australian High Commission, Ms. Priya Paul- Art Consultant and well known artists including Mr. Manav Gupta, Mr. Rahul Arya and Mr. Neeraj Goswami.

 

 The interaction was followed by a Painting Exhibition titled “Amity Art Affair 2012” wherein the works of the teachers of all Amity International Schools located in Noida, Mayur Vihar, Push Vihar, Saket, Gurgaon and Vasundhara and Amity University were displayed. The exhibition is the culmination of weeklong Art and Sculpture Camp conceptualized by Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan-Chairperson, Amity International Schools.

 

Inaugurating the Exhibition, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan-Chairperson, Amity International Schools applauded the artistic talent of the teachers of Amity International Schools and motivated them to nurture their talent in future so as to bring laurels to the nation

 

Over 38 aesthetic paintings themed on “Peace and Harmony” portrayed a multitude of themes ranging from naturalistic and representational to photographic and abstract, enthused with narrative content, symbolism, abstract art and emotions. The masterpieces provided delight to the senses of the onlookers, who were mesmerized by the vivid canvasses.

 

 The exhibition will remain open till Thursday November 8, 2012
