Amity University, Uttar Pradesh signs MoU with University of Seychelles, Victoria, Seychelles

It was a memorable day for Amity University, Uttar Pradesh when Dr. Rolph Payet, Minister of Energy & Environment, Seychelles and Chancellor -University of Seychelles visited the Campus and signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amity University, Sector- 125, Noida to foster and strengthen the mutual relationship and facilitate the exchange of expertise between both the Universities.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr. (Mrs.) Balvinder Shukla - Acting Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh and Dr. Rolph Payet, Minister of Energy & Environment and Chancellor of University of Seychelles in the presence of H.E. Waven William, High Commissioner of Republic of Seychelles and Mr. Jean – Claude Adrienne ,First Secretary Republic of Seychelles.

The MoU will facilitate joint development of curriculum in identified areas, Exchange of Academic information, Faculty members, students and study programs. It will include training of and visits by faculty members of both the Universities, Internship programmes for the students, Joint Workshops and Faculty Development Programmes in the areas of mutual interests.

Expressing his gratitude and admiration of the association, Dr. Rolph Payet, Minister of Energy & Environment and Chancellor of University of Seychelles expressed his hope that the association of University of Seychelles with Amity University would be meaningful, providing a forum for building mutual relationship and friendship between both the countries. Dr. Payet outlined how University of Seychelles came into existence in 2007 when the President of the Republic of Seychelles, James Michel, announced that the nation was ready to develop a University for its handful population of 87, 000 people. Dr. Payet also shared the present strength of students and various programmes offered by the University along with the ambitious future plans for the University. The Hon’ble Minister gave an interesting lecture on “Adaptation Science and the Sustainability Paradigm- lessons from Seychelles” highlighting how the ecosystem of small islands can have trickling effect on the bigger nations.

Welcoming the alliance, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Acting Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that the collaboration is going to be rewarding for both the universities and in fact, for both the countries. She outlined various innovative areas where both the Universities could work together including Environment related areas, Marine Science, Solar and Renewable Energy.

Dr. Ajit Varma, Pro Vice Chancellor, Science & Technology (International) & Director General, Amity Institute of Microbial Technology applauded the determination of the Hon’ble Minister of Energy & Environment, Seychelles and Chancellor of University of Seychelles to build up the nation through education and bring about an education revolution in Seychelles. He shared his hope that MoU will develop strong symbiotic relationship between both the countries.

Also present during the occasion were Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Prof. VPS Arora, Dean Academics, Prof. B B Dhar, Director, Research & Innovation Coordination, Dr. Alka Munjal, Director, (Academics) & Mentor, Amity School of Business and other senior Directors, HODs and HOIs of Amity University
