Sangathan 2012 - Amity Inter Institution Sports Competition to promote Sports & Camaraderie amongst Students
Amity has been celebrating SANGATHAN, An event of Compassion, Commitment and Success every year since last thirteen years. Now, it’s the time for its 14th Annual month long, Mega Sports Meet “Sangathan 2012” which was inaugurated at Amity Campus, sector-125, Noida. Dr. Ashok Kumar Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group has always been passionate about his work and this event is especially structured to salute his sterling spirit and unflagging passion to bring about an education revolution in the country.
The event commenced with the “Sangathan Torch” which was carried to various
institutions from Amity Campus, Sector-125 to Sector-44 by the students of various
institutions. Ceremonial release of pigeons and balloons by Mr. Atul Chauhan,
Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh and Mr. Ajit Chauhan- Vice Chairman,
Amity School of Distance Learning and Amity University Online was a treat to the
eyes of thousands of beholders, who were captivated by the magnificence of the
occasion.
More than 20,000 students of higher education institutions from all Amity Campuses located across India and abroad will zealously participate in various sports events including Hockey, Cricket, football, Tennis, Swimming, Squash among others and prove their mettle by competing with their counterparts. The Sports captains from all teams took oath to play all the events with honesty, dedication,
camaraderie and truthfulness.
The oath ceremony was followed by a multi-hued fusion display by the talented
students of Amity School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. The onlookers
applauded the agility and flawless performance by the students.
Declaring the Meet ‘Open’ with the flag hoisting, Mr. Atul Chauhan-Chancellor, Amity University said that Sangathan is the most important event in Amity calendar. It is as important for Amitians as Olympics for National and International Sportsmen. The participating leaders and team members will learn leadership spirit and importance of team work through this fun loving Sports Meet “Sangathan” added Mr. Atul Chauhan.
Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Acting Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said
it’s a great day and every year we like to innovate something new to this mega
event to make it more enjoyable and memorable. She wished best of luck to all the
students and said may the best team wins.
The inauguration culminated with a football match (men) between the teams of Amity Law School, Centre-2 and Amity Institute of Telecom Technology Management. Amity Law School, centre-2 won the match by the score of 2-1. The
Valediction of this Mega sports meet will take place on September 24, 2012. During the month long event, 20,000 students will compete for over 1100 medals and trophies in over 21 sports.
