Amity Institute of Telecom Technology & Management in association with The Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers inaugurates IETE Amity University Sub Centre
Amity Institute of Telecom Technology & Management (AITTM) in association with The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) inaugurated first of its kind IETE Amity University Sub Centre at Amity University Campus, Sector-125, Noida to conduct basic engineering and continuing technical education programmes for human resource development and to provide forum for discussion on National policies and inputs to policy makers.
The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is the India’s leading professional Society in the field of Electronics, Telecommunications, Computers Science/ Engineering, Broadcsting, Information Technology and related areas. Established in the year 1953, the Institution serves its more than 70,000 members through its 62 Centres/Sub Centres located in different parts of the country including one in Nepal. IETE has been recognized by the Government of India as a Scientific and industrial Research Organistion (SIRO) and an Educational Institution of National Eminence.
The IETE Amity University Sub Centre was inaugurated by Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group, Lt. Gen P D Bhargava- Deputy Vice Chancellor and Director General, AITTM, Mr. R.K. Gupta-President, IETE, Dr. Surendra Pal-President-Elect, IETE, Brig. (Retd.) and S.C. Anand-Chairman, IETE, Noida.
The objectives of IETE Amity University Sub Centre are:-
- To plan and organize technical events & activities in the form of technical meetings, conferences, symposia, exhibitions, and technical journals etc. for the students.
- To provide an opportunity to Engineering students to interact with professionals and industry doyens and apprise them with the contemporary trends in the industry to prepare them for the competitive IT and Telecom sector
- To build a hub of Telecom technology and IT with advance knowledge at Amity
- To scale up the employability factor of students.
Welcoming the august gathering, Lt. Gen P D Bhargava- Deputy Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh and Director General, AITTM expressed his joy over the association between IETE and Amity University, which started with the opening up IETE’s Professional Activity Centre and Students’ Forum in December 2011 at AITTM and with the approval of the Governing Council of IETE on February 5, 2012 was raised to another level- IETE Amity University Sub Centre. Lt. Gen Bhargava shared that over 255 students from AITTM and 45 from Amity School of Engineering and Technology have already become the members of IETE. He expressed hope that the expertise of IETE will not only benefit the students and faculty members in the field of Electronics and Telecommunications but the entire related industry.
Sharing his views during the occasion, Mr. R K Gupta, President, IETE remarked that it’s a historic occasion for IETE to have opened its sub- centre at an internationally renowned and reputed University like Amity which is known for extensive Corporate interaction and industry oriented professional courses. He stressed that if Indian education has to move forward then public private partnership needs to be promoted in the country. Amity University, with its strong faculty base and quality education and IETE, with its robust industry focus would take the technical education in the country to greater heights. He, further, called upon the faculty members of Amity University to contribute their research papers in IETE journals so that students across the country could benefit from the journals.
Welcoming the association, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group said that the IETE Amity University Sub- Centre is the just the beginning of the synergy between IETE and Amity University and which will be strengthened with many new initiative in the near future. He urged the students from Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity Institute of Telecom Technology and Management and Amity Institute of Information Technology to make the most out of the enriching presence of distinguished members of IETE and become part of the Sub- Centre which will bring them close to the industry and make them industry ready.
Dr. Surendra Pal-President-Elect, IETE, while sharing his views, briefed the distinguished gathering with the vast fraternity of honorary members and fellows associated with IETE including Former President of India, DR. A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM. He expressed his hope that the collaborative model of IETE andAmity University, Uttar Pradesh would soon be replicated in other campuses of Amity located across India and abroad. He thanked Amity University for providing quantum leap to IETE by establishing IETE Amity University Sub Centre at Amity Campus, Noida.
