Delegation from university of West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago visits Amity University

A high level delegation from University of the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago led by Prof. Kapil Kumar visited Amity University, to understand the working and teaching culture of Amity and share the experiences and ideas of research and project works which can be initiated by both the Universities together to facilitate students with better knowledge.

The University of the West Indies, is an autonomous regional institution supported by and serving 18 English-speaking countries and territories in the Caribbean: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Turks and Caicos.

Welcoming the august gathering, Dr. Ajit Varma, Pro Vice Chancellor of Science and Technology and Director General, Amity Institute of Microbial Technology, said that the relations of India and West Indies have always been cordial. Dwelling more about the links between India and West indies, he shared his experiences of teaching at University of West Indies, Kingston, Jamaica as a visiting professor and said the people of West Indies are keen learners who look forward to every new possibility of enhancing their knowledge.

Prof. Kapil Kumar, Chair, Contemporary Modern Indian Studies, University of West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago, having his origin in India itself, shared his views about his visit to India along with the delegation of University of West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago remarked “we have been experiencing Indian culture and trends and enjoying this visit to its extreme, Amity besides tradition and modernity, is one of the best and largest private institutions and without adding Amity University as their visited institutes in this journey they could have missed to see the growth of private sector in India” added Prof. Kumar.

Addressing the delegates Major General R K Dhawan, Director-IAD said that Amity desires to be at the top positions in each and every field. Through his presentation, he showcased the reach, achievements, facilities, specialized programmes, Placement and uniqueness of Amity University. He said Amity builds entrepreneurs for tomorrow to facilitate country with more employment generation in order to increase the growth rate of the nation and believes an Amitian will prove to be a diamond forever to his organization with his knowledge and proficiencies.

The gathering ended with a beautiful cultural program by Amitians who presented folk dance of Rajasthan and Indian classical song sung by an Amitian “Kasturi” to apprise the audiences with glimpses of Indian culture and tradition.
