Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences organised lecture on “Correlates of Sexual Attitudes and Behaviours in Affluent Indian Young Adults" by Dr. Anurakti Mathur on May 31, 2012 during the Faculty Development Lecture Series-03 as a part of AIPS Faculty Development Programme.

Prof. S. Sitaraman, Prof (Dr) Abha Singh and Faculty members from AIPS, AIBHAS, ASAP attended the Lecture. Dr. Mathur shared the findings and conclusion of her PhD. She shared with the audiences that both male and female respondents had almost similar levels of sexual myths, a strong negative relationship existed between sexual dissatisfaction and sex knowledge of the female respondents. She also shared that in her study the respondents had very liberal sexual attitudes in general and the level of sexual freedom in the country. She concluded by saying that today’s youth are more opn and expressive about their sexuality, it is no longer a taboo and there is no guilt or shame associated with it.

Dr. Palta also shared her comments and said that Sexuality has always been sacred from our ancient Indian times. The only difference is the change in the mindset. Question answer session was interactive and informative for the audience. Prof Sitaraman congratulated the speaker for making such a presentation and shared that these kind of topics are required for creating awareness. Prof Dr Abha Singh in her speech conveyed that we need to address issues in a scientific manner with the help of counseling and emphasized on providing the right information at the right and appropriate time.

The session was well accepted and appreciated by the audience.
