AITTM Participates in International Telecom Exhibition & Conference – Convergence India

AITTM - Amity University participated in the 18th Convergence India 2010 and put up a stall from 23rd - 25 March at Pragati Maidan. South Asia’s biggest ICT expo – Convergence India, was organized by Exhibitions India group and supported by Department of Telecommunications and Ministry of Communications & IT, Government of India. This year’s theme was ‘Digital Convergence…Empowering a Billion Lives’.

The exhibition began on the 23rd with an Inaugural Ceremony chaired by Mr Gurudas Kamat, Minister of State for Communications & IT. Mr. Chandra Shekhar – Secretary DOT, Mr. Kuldeep Goyal - CMD BSNL Mr. Pankaj Mahindru Chairman ICA , Shri N.K.Goyal, President- CMAI were the other dignitaries present .

Telecom giants like Ericsson , Bharti Airtel, Aircel, Uninor, Idea Cellular, Microsoft, BSNL, MTNL, Matrix, Tech-Mahindra, Comba Telecom, COAI, Delta Group, GTL and C-DOT were some of the participants at the international exhibition.

Three day long conferences had more than 100 speakers from across the globe and included names like Mr.Shyamal Ghosh - Chairman DSCI, Shri R.K.Arnold - , Secretary TRAI, Dr.Gulshan Rai, Director General, Dept of IT, Mr. Anil Jain, Dy.Director General BSNL, Mr T.R.Dua, Director General- COAI, Mr.Sharat Chandra, President & COO GTL, ,Mr Shyam Mardikar,Sr.Vice-President Bharti Airtel, Mr.Tarvinder Singh, Director Marketing & Product Management – Motorola India Pvt. Ltd., Mr.C.S.Rao, Chairman Wimax Forum India., , Mr.Richard Bullok, Head C&D, Ericsson, Mr.Rajiv Bawa Exec.Vice-President- Uninor, , Mr.Salil Kapoor COO Dish Tv, Mr.Jay Chauhan, Vice-President & Head of Technology, NDTV Worldwide, among others. Panel discussions and lectures revolved around current topics like GSM & CDMA-Future of wireless business, Redefining Broadband, Digital satellite, Teresstrial and Cable Technologies - Challenges and Sustenance in a multi-operator environment among others.

Students and faculty from AITTM attended the Exhibition and got an opportunity to interact with representatives from the Industry. This helped them to keep abreast with the latest technologies and innovations in the telecom world. The IIC team interacted with the industry representatives and procured valuable leads for collaborations, placements and internship projects.

The stall had a number of visitors from the industry with queries regarding Amity courses curriculum, admission procedures and placement queries.

With over 400 corporate participants from across the globe, the event was a great success.
