Amity Centre For Extension Services organises One Day Awareness Cum Training Programme On “Sodic Soil Reclamation & Management Packages To Farmers Of District Gautam Buddh Nagar" at Amity University
Amity Centre for Extension Services (ACES) organized one day Awareness cum Training Programme on “Sodic Soil Reclamation & Management Packages to Farmers of district Gautam Budh Nagar" at Amity University Campus, Sector – 125, Noida.
During his welcome address, Dr. N.P Singh, Director, ACES urged the audience to understand the “Importance of enhancing soil fertility, appropriate selection of crops that are to be ideally grown in sodic soil and the importance of participation of farmers in the Yojnas designed for the purpose of “Enhancing Soil quality and productivity.”
Honourable Chief Guest Mr. Dhurender Kumar, Deputy Director (Agril.Ext) Gautam Budh Nagar, during his inaugural address said “As the pressure of population is increasing every day, therefore it is necessary to utilize the resources to the utmost for higher productivity and maximum yield.” Mr. Dhurender Kumar informed the farmers about the benefits of Line sowing that gives higher yield and Soil Testing Programme in the laboratories before the use of chemical fertilizers and stated that excessive use of Zinc, Boron, Copper and Magnesium harms the quality and yield of crops. Mr. Kumar called upon the farmers to avail the government subsidies on seeds and 25% rebate on purchase of any ‘Krishiyantra’.
Mr. Manjeet Singh Chauhan, Honourable member of the Advisory Committee urged the farmers to share the practical difficulties that they face in their occupation and said “Farmers survive on hardwork and it is hardwork that brings luck.” Mr. Singh advised the farmers to bring in greater coordination amongst themselves during the implementation of Yojnas in order to avail their benefits in terms of soil reclamation and higher productivity.
Dr. Sunil Saran, Vice Chairman, Amity Science Technology & Innovation Foundation (ASTIF) in his address discussed the negative effect of soil erosion on agriculture, importance of proper dosage of chemical fertilizers in soil and Low productivity caused due to Black sodic soil.
Dr. Akhilesh Kumar, Assistant Engineer, Gautam Budh Nagar, during his interaction with the farmers dwelt upon “How planning of water can lead to higher productivity of soil, Government subsidies on tube wells and Importance of water conservation.”
The inauguration programme was followed by technical sessions on “Techniques and Method of Soil Reclamation” by Dr. N.P Yaduvansi, Principal Scientist CSSRI, Karnal, “Salt Tolerant Wheat Varieties and their package of practices” by Dr. K.N Singh, Former Head of Deptt, Crop Improvement Division, CSSRI, Karnal, “Techniques of Conducting on farm demonstation” by Dr. R.P Singh, former Sr. Training Specialist, IARI, New Delhi, and “ Designing and planning for soil Reclamation package through farmers participatory approach” by Dr. N.P Singh ACES.
