Lecture On “Censorship” By Dr. Aruna Mukim At Amity School of Communication
Amity School of Communication (ASCO) organized a lecture on “Censorship” for its students and faculty today at the Amity University Campus, Sector 125, Noida.
Dr. Aruna Mukim, Member Film Censor Board, informed the audience about “How Does The Censor Board Work In India?” and “How Different Is The Functioning Of The Censor Board In India From The Other Countries?”. Dr. Mukim, dwelt on the issues of “How Film Certification plays a part?”, “Power of Press in India”, “Reasonable Restrictions according to Article 19(2)”, “Why Is Film Censorship Necessary?” and “How Certifications are subjected to Adult (A), Specialized (S) and Parental Guidance (PG)”.
Dr. Mukim informed that the present Film Censorship is governed by 1952 Act. She explained to the students about the “Rules That Apply On Foreign Films”, “Why Doordarshan Is Exempted From Censorship”, “The Importance Of The Minimization Of Scenes That Promote Communal Divide& Tension , Violence Glorification, Sexual Abuse, Glamorization Of Alcohol& Tobacco Consumption and Women Degradation.”
The lecture was followed by a stimulating interactive session between Dr. Mukim and the audience that focused on “Relevance of the Censor Board to the Television Programs & Soaps”, “Application of Censorship On Student’s Films”, “ Relation Between Censorship And Piracy”, “ The Existing Rating System and its scopes Of Amendments”.
