Over 60 Students of Amity International Schools interacts with Mr. Dario Schworer-an environmentalist at Embassy of Switzerland
Over 60 students from Amity International Schools visited Embassy of Switzerland to meet and interact with Mr. Dario Schworer - an environmentalist and qualified ski and mountaineering guide, his wife Sabine Schworer, a nurse and their three children, who all are dedicated to build awareness about protecting the environment and the depletion that human beings are causing.
The session was very interactive and informative. Mr. Darios presentation focused on his first expedition which included Seven-Summits-non-stop-round-the-world, exclusively using human power and natures forces – wind and sun, proving that even today great achievements can be made in harmony with nature.
Dario shared his experiences with the students to apprise them with the impacts and solutions to the problems of climate change and carbon footprint. The key messages, which he endeavored to spread amongst the students, were “climate protection” and “enjoy nature through sport but also try giving something back to nature”.
To refresh and rejuvenate the students, Dario, towards the end of the interaction, informed that there are four official languages of Switzerland - Swiss German, French, Italian and Romanch and he and Sabine would sing a song of each language and the students had to identify the languages. The students wracked their brains and stretched their wits, guessing the languages and were, finally, able to identify almost all of them.
Also present during the interaction were Esteemed Ambassador of Switzerland, Councilor of the Embassy and Ms. Jyoti Arora- Head, Amity Educational Resource Centre, Amity Group of Schools along with few teachers from Amity International Schools.
Schworer family, based in Sargans, Switzerland, is part of “ TOP to TOP”, a non- profit organization under the patronage of United Nations Environment Program. The people associated with “ TOP to TOP” visit the schools and address them about the need to conserve environment , organize aids for the affected, connect with the small and local communities and provide them help in the needed areas.
The Schworer family embarked upon this journey in December 2002. They use push bikes and their sailboat, Pachamama for their mission which indicates a lifestyle in harmony with nature.
