Dr. Azad S. Kundu delivers a lecture on “Conceptualization of Research in Mental Health, Obstacles and Solutions” as a part of lectures series by external experts at Amity Institute of Behavioral (Health) & Allied Sciences

Amity Institute of Behavioral (Health) & Allied Sciences of Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida invited Dr. Azad S. Kundu, Deputy Director General & Chief of Social & Behavioral Research, Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi to speak on the topic “Conceptualization of Research in Mental Health, Obstacles and Solutions” as a part of lectures series by external experts on the occasion of orientation programme for the benefit of MPHIL (Clinical Psychology) students : 2010 - 2012 Batch.

Considering the importance of the topic, other students of AIBHAS and AIPS were also allowed to attend the lecture. Thus, around 100 students and 15 faculty members listened to his lecture. Prof. Abha Singh, Director of AIPS and acting head of AIBHAS was present on the occasion. Dr. Dweep Chand Singh, Assistant Professor and Coordinator for MPhil (Clinical Psychology) introduced the speaker to the audience.

Dr. Kundu delivered his lecture in the following outlines:

1. Structure and Functions of ICMR.

2. Types of research.

3. Priority setting in research.

4. Modes of research and Coordination issues at national level.

5. Review mechanism for research.

6. Mental health Vs health.


He informed students that ICMR provides various research fellowships to the students interested in health related areas including mental health and reproductive health also.

Towards the end of his talk, he clarified doubts raised by the students. The lecture was highly information for the students. The organizers expressed gratitude to him for sharing his knowledge and experiences.
