Mr. Kapil Sibal- Honble Union Minister for Human Resource Development honours Ms. Renu Singh, Principal, Amity International School Noida with "CBSE Award to Teachers for the year 2009"
Teachers play an indispensable role in the development of a nation. “If a doctor fails, the patient suffers, if a lawyer fails, the innocent suffers but if a teacher fails then the entire generation of students suffers It is very imperative for the teachers, who mould the young tender and impressionable minds, to be sincere and honest in their efforts. Teachers should be ready to learn from the students, who are sometimes better informed than the teachers, the teachers should consider themselves students of the students. They should kindle the fire of curiosity and inquisitiveness in the students, which would enhance their wealth of real knowledge, leading to the overall development of the students” stressed Mr. Kapil Sibal- Honble Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Government of India while highlighting the importance and role of a teacher in nation building activities during the glittering ceremony of “CBSE Award to Teachers for the year 2009” at India International Centre, Lodhi Road. During his speech, Honble Minister Kapil Sibal also touched upon the low salaries of the teachers which he said, need to be renewed and shared that his ministry is planning a lot of initiatives for the teachers in the years to come.
During the occasion, Ms. Renu Singh-Principal of Amity International School, Noida was felicitated with “CBSE Teachers for the year 2009” Award in recognition of her valuable contribution in the field of secondary education by Hon’ble Mr. Kapil Sibal in the gracious presence of Honble Ms. G Purandeswari- Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Government of India.
The award comprised of a Certificate of Commendation, cash award of Rs. 25,000/- and a shawl.
With teaching career spanning 28 years, Mrs. Renu Singh has done distinguished work in the field of education and contributed to social and environmental development. She is not only an eminent educationist but is also committed to the social cause – conducting various programmes for the welfare of Army Jawans and JCO’s children and their wives. She, very modestly, attributed her success and remarkable achievement to Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools, who was also present during the occasion.
CBSE Award to Teachers was instituted in the year 2000 by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development. Every year 14 Awards are conferred on the Headmasters (with 20 years of regular teaching experience in recognized primary/middle/secondary or higher secondary schools) teachers (with at least 15 years of regular teaching experience in recognized primary/middle/secondary or higher secondary schools) of CBSE affiliated schools. Out of the 14 awards, one award is reserved for the teachers working in the CBSE affiliated schools in foreign countries and one for physical education teachers working in the CBSE affiliated schools. The Regional Committees instituted for the purpose recommend the names of the teachers to the Central Awards Committee of CBSE for final selection.
