“Sangathan 2010- Annual Inter Institutional Sports Meet” inaugurated at Amity

Amity University kickstarted its annual Inter Institutional Sports Meet “Sangathan 2010” at Amity University, Noida Campus. Every year “Sangathan” is held to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity and to promote the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie amongst the students of Amity.

The sports meet was inaugurated by Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Additional President RBEF & Chancellor, Amity University, Rajasthan, Maj Gen. K. Jai Singh, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Dr. B. Shukla, Pro Vice Chancellor (Academics), Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Prof. (Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Pro-Vice Chancellor (International), Amity University Uttar Pradesh.

Declaring " Sangathan 2010 open", Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh said, “Amity Sangathan flame will travel across all the Amity campuses in India and abroad like Commonwealth Games flames, creating a feeling of unity in the Amity fraternity.” He urged the students to make the most out of Sangathan which can help them in inculcating discipline, perseverance, hard work, patience and sportsmanship.

While addressing the august gathering, Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Additional President RBEF & Chancellor, Amity University, Rajasthan said, “the zeal and enthusiasm of Amity students for Sangathan is no less than Commonwealth Games.” He motivated the students to become real go-getters and prove their mettle during the competitive events which will unfold during the two months of Sangathan. He remarked, “the qualities which are required to excel in sports are same as required to succeed in life, therefore students should give their 100 per cent to Sangathan in order to learn the success mantras of life.

Maj Gen. K. Jai Singh, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said, “this is one of the most prestigious events which Amity organizes year after year. There is no other way of building bond and camaraderie amongst the students. Sports help in building various qualities in students that are needed to keep them stress-free. Sangathan brings undaunted confidence in the students.”

The inaugural ceremony was followed by Tennis Matches between ASET and AIB (boys) and between ALS and AIB(girls).

Display Show with the theme “Fusion” by the students of Amity School of Physical Education and Sports Education. “Fusion” was the attraction of the day and was spectator’s delight as the students in colorful attires synchronized amongst them while making Yoga Pyramid.

More than 35,000 students from various institutions will participate in the mega sports meet from all Amity Campuses across India – Jaipur, Lucknow, Noida, Maneswar and Delhi and lock horns with their counterparts in various sporting events like swimming, cricket, basketball, kho-kho, chess, squash, shooting etc.
