Amity confers Doctor of Literature (D. Litt.) Degree to Her Excellency Raja Easa Saleh Al Gurg- President of the Dubai Business Women Council
Amity University Uttar Pradesh organized a “Special Convocation” atUniversity Campus, Sector-125, Noida to honor Her Excellency Raja Easa Saleh AlGurg with the Degree of Doctor of Literature (Honoris Causa) for herexceptional vision, deep commitment to ethical business; professionalism anddirection in pursuit of excellence; her strategic vision and inspirationalleadership in steering her organization towards continuous growth anddedication to the good of humanity.
Her Excellency Raja Easa Saleh Al Gurg isthe President of the Dubai Business Women Council and Board Member of DubaiWomen’s Association. She is also the Chairperson of Al Jalila Foundation, aNonprofit Organization whose mandate is to promote the UAE as a Centre ofExcellence for Medical Research and Education. Al Jalila Foundation was startedin 2013 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum- Vice Presidentand Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai to promote medical educationand research and to position UAE at the forefront of medical innovation. Amity is the FoundingMember of Al Jalila Foundation. She is a woman of great achievements in life. Forbes Middle East has ranked her asthe most powerful Arab woman in family Business in 2013 as well as in 2014.
The ceremonious Convocation procession,led by pipers, including Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group,Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, distinguishedTrustees and members of Management, Directors, Head of Institutions entered thehall.
Declaring the “Special Convocation” open, Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, AmityUniversity Uttar Pradesh said, “It’s a historical day for Amityto honor HE Raja Al Gurg with Honorary Doctorate Degree”. He appreciated thehumane qualities possessed by HE Raja Al Gurg and called her an “embodiment ofhumility”. He shared that Amity Group is building the largest PrivateUniversity Campus in Dubai and assured that Amity University and Amity Schoolswill immensely contribute to the R&D in Healthcare sector of UAE.
Sharing his views and commending HE Raja Al Gurg, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- FounderPresident, Amity Group said that HE Raja Al Gurg’sphilanthropy is well known in Dubai and other countries. Her generosity,kindness, concern for the ones in need, strategic vision, intellect and wisdomare unparallel and acknowledged through various Awards and Recognitionsbestowed upon her regularly. Dr. Chauhan shared his vision and mission to leadbreakthrough R&D in the medical sector of UAE.
Accepting the Honorary Doctorate Degree in D. Lit, HE Raja Al Gurgthanked Amity University for honoring her and acknowledging her contribution tovarious sectors in UAE. She expressed, “Medical Research has created the needfor trained professionals and a promise of countless opportunities forthousands of young researchers and medical technologists. The infrastructureincluding healthcare facilities, medical professionals, technological equipmentfor patient care and diagnostics are available in most of the leading cities inIndia. India offers a research infrastructure at par with other developing anddeveloped sectors around the world. Research has become an essential componentof Health industry and is a cornerstone of Al Jalila Foundation’s activities.”
Highlighting the needand importance of women empowerment, HE stressed,“empowering women to participate fully across all sectors is essential forbuilding stronger economies, achieving internationally agreed goals fordevelopment and sustainability and improving the quality of life withincommunities, An empowered women is the best catalyst to promote sustainablefuture.” She shared that women, today in UAE, are receiving full support andaccount for 22.5% of the Federal National Council.
Sharing her views on the importanceof education and Research, she said, “The importance ofeducation and research for economic and social development cannot beunderstated. The children should be educated to empower them. Innovation shouldbe driven through Research. From supporting young mothers to pursue their post–graduate education in medicine, to providing training and support for parentsof children with special needs; Al Jalila Foundation is taking great strides tocreate a healthier and better world by discovering innovative solutions toaddress medical challenges of the future”
She remarked that Al Jalila Foundation is looking for closesynergies with like minded research institutions and organizations such asAmity University in a quest to provide a new catalyst for complimenting effortsaimed at building a healthy society.
HE Raja Al Gurg was accompanied by her daughter, sister andother family members who shared memorable moments with her after the conferringof Honorary Doctorate Degree.
