Dr. Thockchom Meinya, MP (Lok Sabha) and Former Minister, Higher and Technical Education, Manipur delivered lecture at Amity Law School, AUUP on January 14, 2010 at Moot Court I-2 Block, Amity University Campus, Sector-125 Noida.
Dr. Thockchom Meinya delivered his talk on the topic India''''s North East : Certain Legal Issue. Dr. Meinya was welcomed by Maj. Gen. Nilendra Kumar, Director of Amity Law School, AUUP. Dr. Meinya apprised the students of the history of the ''''Seven Sister''''-The North Eastern States. He also talked about the current political and economic issues of the North Eastern States. He called for a new and accommodating approach for review of Armed Forces (Special Power Act). This Act has been greatly resented by the North East Residents. He further suggested framing of a policy to take into account emotional and sentimental attitude of the North Eastern people.
Dr. Meinyas address was followed by an inter active session where he answered many questions asked by the students and the faculty. Dr. Meinya encouraged the law students to join politics as the country needs young and enthusiastic people. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Niru Sharan, a faculty member of Amity Law School, AUUP.
