Blood Donation Camp at Amity witnesses humungous participation by students

Rotary Club of Delhi City has organized two day “Blood Donation Camp” on September 10 and 12, 2014 at Amity Campus, Sector- 125, Noida.

The Camp was inaugurated by Mr. H K Bakshi – President, Rotary Club, Mr. Ajay Chauhan- Trustee, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation and various other distinguished members of Rotary Club.

During the day, more than 300 units of blood were collected. In total, 505 enthusiastic students registered themselves for Blood Donation, however, due to low BP and Hemoglobin levels, over 300 coulddonate the blood. Doctors advised them to eat healthy, nutritious food and improve their lifestyle pattern.

Sharing his views, Mr. H K Bakshi – President, Rotary Club expressed his joy over the zeal and excitement shown by Amity students in the noble cause of blood donation. He highlighted that thereis a shortage of over 1 lakh units of blood for patients in Delhi/NCR itself. Many accident victims, innocent children suffering from Thalassemia, pregnant women, cancer patients and other people in life threatening situation die due to shortage of blood. Heshared that anybody who is in the age group of 18-65 years with weight more than 45 kgs could donate blood and blood donation does not effect the health, the donor can immediately resume his/her work. He stressed that one need not to be a doctor to save lives;donating blood after every three months could save many lives since 1 pint of blood could save 3 lives.

Mr. Ajay Chauhan- Trustee, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation appreciated the students for their whole hearted participation in Blood Donation Camp. He encouraged students to donate blood inlarge numbers so that somewhere somebody in need could be helped in time. He shared that Blood Donation Camp helps students to relate to other human beings, understand their sufferings and learn human virtues, which are very important to succeed in personalas well as professional life.

Also present during the occasion were Ms. Mallica Chauhan, Prof (Dr.) Nirupama Prakash-Director, Amity Institute of Social Sciences, Prof (Dr) Marshal Sahni-Dean Student Welfare, Amity, Prof.R R Grover- Advisor,  Amity Institute of Insurance Banking and Actuarial Sciences and other senior officials of Amity University.
