Grand Inauguration Ceremony of 3rd Amity International Olympiad and 16th Amity National Mathematics Workshop at Amity University
A week long Amity International Olympiad 2014 for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry & Biology and 16th Amity National Mathematics Workshop organized by Amity Institute of Competitive Examinations and Amity Centre for Science Olympiads was inaugurated amidst a grand ceremony at Amity Campus, Sector 125, Noida.
Dr. S.V Eswaran, Emeritus Scientist, CSIR; Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools; Mrs. Pooja Chauhan, Vice-Chairperson, Amity Humanity Foundation, Dr. R P Singh, Advisor, Amity Institute of Nanotechnology and Mrs. Meenakshi Rawal, Director, Amity Institute for Competitive Examinations inaugurated the International Olympiad 2014.
Welcoming the gathering, Ms. Meenakshi Rawal presented a brief summary of the Workshop and Olympiad and added that there has been an overwhelming student participation year after year, which represents the success of the Olympiad and the workshop.
Dr. S.V. Eswaran opined that our country had produced many great mathematicians like Aryabhatt, Ramanujan, Radhakrishnan and it feels happy to see the inclination of students towards a subject like Mathematics. He further motivated the participants that Olympiads will aid them to achieve excellence in desired subjects.
During the inauguration, Dr. Amita Chauhan formally announced the Olympiad and Workshop open and said that Competitions like Olympiad are very important as they hone the problem solving skills of students. She also encouraged the students to learn the most from the faculty who would enlighten them with their vast experience during the week and together they could experience the cultural exchange. She extended her warm welcome to the students and wished them luck.
During this occasion, students of Amitasha presented an invocation in honour of the participants and guests from various countries.
3rd Amity International Olympiad for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry & Biology has witnessed the immense participation of more than 350 students from the schools located in Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and India. A team from Turkey also participated as observers.
Dr. Srikanth and Dr. Kannan, Olympiad Experts and faculty of Mathematics from SASTRA University, Kumbgaon, Tamilnadu was also present during the ceremony.
