Dr. K.M. Chacko, Director, Shriram Institute of Industrial Research visits Amity to discuss potential areas of mutual cooperation

Dr. K.M. Chacko, Director, Shriram Institute of Industrial Research, New Delhi visited Amity University, Sector- 125, Noida to mull over the potential areas of mutual collaboration .

Dr. Chacko was accompanied by Dr U K Nyogi- HoD, Material Science, Dr. V K Verma- HoD, Environmental Sciences, Dr .Kakkar- HoD, Analytical Science and Dr. Agarwal- HoD, Toxicology from Shriram Institute of Industrial Research, New Delhi

 Dr W Selvamurthy, President, Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation welcomed Dr. Chacko and gave him a brief overview of the various research activities being conducted at University. He stated that Amity is looking at developing long term, effective, active and mutually benefiting relationship with Shriram Institute.

Dr. Chacko expressed his gratitude to Amity for inviting their team to the Campus and appreciated the magnanimity of the research activities being conducted at Amity. He shared that Shriram Institute for Industrial Research (SRI) is an independent, self sustaining, not-for-profit multidisciplinary contract research Institute conducting research and development in the areas of special significance to industry, government agencies and other organizations. He presented a brief overview of the research projects going on at SRI and various Operational divisions at SRI including Material Science, Environment Protection,Bio-Sciences and Toxicology and Radiation Centre. He stressed that SRI is looking for partners for growth and expressed a desire for sending their Research Scholars to Amity University for pursuing their Phds, where they could carry on their research work on state of the art facilities.

During the discussions, Dr W Selvamurthy and Dr. Chacko with his team of Senior Officials outlined several areas where both the Institutions could come together, leading to mutual benefits including Certification of new technologies/products developed by Amity in terms of their efficiency, efficacy and safety, Joint Research Projects funded by Government Agencies/ Industry, joint efforts for the creation of interface between MSME/ industries for technology absorption and commercialization of newly developed technologies and prototypes and Synergy between the Incubators of both the Institutes for facilitating innovations in the area of Bio- Sciences  and Life- Sciences.

The Scientists and Researchers of Amity-Dr S S Agarwal, Group Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr V K Jain, Advisor, Amity Institute of Advanced Reseach and Studies; Prof. Tanu Jindal, Director, Amity Institute of Environmental Toxicology, Safety and Management and others presented their breakthrough research in novel areas such as “Herbal Green tea”, “Reusable pocket friendly water purifier”, “Low cost water testing Kit”, “Biodegradable Bioplastics”, “Herbal Products”  and “Dermal Patch”.
