Amity Institute of Education and Training organises inaugural ceremony of DGR sponsored 24-week "Business Management Course" for Officers of Armed Forces
Amity University held an inaugural ceremony of DGR sponsored 24-week "Business Management Course" for Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Other Ranks (ORs) of Indian Army and Air Force.
The Course is intended to train these officers for transition to post-retirement/post-release civilian careers. Essentially, the course is designed to enable the JCOs/ORs to develop communication, functional and leadership skills to pursue and succeed in their second careers in the corporate world.
Maj Gen (Retd.) S. Bindra, Senior Director, Amity Institute of Education and Training, Dr. Sanjeev Bansal, Director, Amity Business School, Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, Dean Faculty of Management Studies & Examinations were present during the ceremony.
Maj Gen (Retd.) Subash Bindra commenced the ceremony and welcomed the participants, guests and faculty. He said that it is really heartening to see such a large turnout of defence personnel for the course. It signifies that you people are highly motivated to take the major step which is the second innings of your career. He added that we have put a great effort in designing the course and assure to provide the best education possible.
While briefing the participants about the history of Amity University and the course, Dr. Sanjeev Bansal said that one should always remember that learning is a never ending and continuous process. In year 2006, Amity University started with the course for 3 months duration but now it has advanced for 6 months. He further said that Discipline, integrity and ethical values that are built in while in Services are of paramount importance in civil life. You should remain with it. He wished all of them well in their career in corporate sector.
Extending the warm welcome, Dr. Sanjay Srivastava advised them to concentrate on three aspects, firstly, to redefine themselves as it is difficult to work in a private sector, as for the second career they have to start from the scratch. Secondly, to work hard on the communication skills, typing, reading and short hand skills which is of major importance. Thirdly, he asked them to create a lot of space in the cup of their minds. They should consider themselves as student and start their career as new.
