School, Noida organized its annual Corporate Meet “Goal 2013” at Amity Campus,
Sector- 125, Noida.
Corporate
Meet aims to strengthen academia-institute bond as industry Captains from
various sectors deliberate upon topical issues faced by the industry and
budding managers get a platform to interact with the leaders from Industry.
Welcoming
the distinguished gathering and addressing them, Dr. A S Bahal-Director,
Amity Global Business School said
that Corporate Social Responsibility is not a new word. It’s been there even
before our country became free. The father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi quoted
and advocated “the wealth created by organizations should eventually get
distributed amongst common people”. Dr. Bahal remarked that CSR initiatives by
industry are very important for economy and society; without equitable
distribution of wealth there could be no business growth in the country.

Ramachandran- Vice President, Amity Global Business Schools shared a brief introduction of Amity Group and
outlined the numerous achievements of the group. He thanked the industry
captains and guests who took time out of their schedule to enrich and enlighten
the budding managers of AGBS.
The
Corporate Meet started with a Panel Discussion on the theme “Corporate
Ethics and CSR”
wherein industry leaders such as Mr. Anand Seth-
Consultant EEPC; Mr. Prabhakar Dastidar- Scientist, Ministry of Earth Sciences,
Government of India; Mr. Rahul Malik- Director, Amrac Advisors Private Limited
Mr. Amit Bhargava- Sr. Oncologist, Batra Hospital, Mr. Shailender Sarin- Sr.
General Manager, Marketing, Jaqaur; Mr. Vikas Jain- Regional Head, Marketing,
Pearson Education and others shared their distinguished views
Addressing
the gathering during the Panel Discussion, Mr. Achint Rastogi-
Director Sales, Crowne Plaza, Greater Noida thanked AGBS for conducting such informative and
knowledgeable programme for the budding managers and leaders of tomorrow.
Talking about ethics, he stressed that ethics are basically the differentiation
between good and bad and what is good for one person may be bad for another. He
stressed that CSR is nothing but next step of Business ethics and its all about
giving back to society what you owe it for running your operations in the
ecosystem. He suggested that each and every department in the organization
should contribute to CSR activities including Marketing Sales, HR, Finance in
their respective domains. He narrated several CSR initiatives that his group
hotels, over 4, 800 across the globe, are doing to make lives better for fellow
citizens.
Sharing
his views on the topic, Mr. Anil Bhavnani- Director BPO Operations, Global
Financial Services, Pfizer said
that industry, while existing in society, draw lot of resources from society
for smooth and efficient functioning. Therefore, it becomes paramount for
industry to repay the society. He apprised the audience with the CSR initiates
carried out by Pfizer including “Get Old” which aims to enhance the quality and
longevity of people’s life, challenging the common notion of people that
pharmaceutical companies exist to make profits.
Mr.
Mukesh Sejwal- National Head, British Telecom suggested that CSR activities should be
embedded in the Corporate DNA since they have become sine qua non for the
existence of Industries and stressed that CSR is not just about money or
resources but also about sparing quality time for societal benefit. He advised
Corporates not to consider CSR initiatives as a marketing strategy but as their
duty towards the society and nation.
In order to recognize
the distinguished CSR initiatives undertaken by various enterprises, a Ceremony
was organized wherein DISH TV, Crown Plaza, Just Dial, British Telecom, Hyatt,
Batra Hospital and others were honored.
