Senior Police Officers attend five day Vertical Interaction Course on “Ethics and Accountability in Police” at Amity University
Amity Institute of Education and Training (AIET) for Central Police Organisations (CPOs) along with Ministry of Home Affairs (BPR&D) started five day Vertical Interaction Course on “Ethics and Accountability in Police” for senior police officers of the rank of ADGs, IGs, DIGs at Amity Campus, Sector- 125, Noida.
Shri Dilip Trivedi, IPS-Director General ,Central Reserve Police Force, Shri R. P. Singh IPS (Retd.) and Director General, AIET (CPOs) and Shri R A Tiwari- Director AIET (CPOs) inaugurated the Course.
Welcoming the august gathering, Shri R. P. Singh IPS (Retd.) and Director General, AIET (CPOs) said that the ethics of the Police are always questioned by each and every person in the society. Police Act drafted in 1861 regulates the functioning of the Police; few amendments have been done at State level but it still needs further amendments. He pointed out the difficulty faced by policemen while they have to carry out orders of criminals turned politicians, where they have no option but to comply with the orders. He remarked that in last few years ,the image of police has suffered a serious blow owing to the growing instances of lack of responsibility and ethics displayed by policemen and therefore, it is important to conduct discussions and deliberations on these important topics.
Addressing the participants, Shri Dilip Trivedi, IPS-Director General ,Central Reserve Police Force quoted the Great Writer, Mr. Charles Dickens who, once , said that this is the “best of times and worst of times”. He stressed that despite of all the problems, we, Indians are very optimistic and we certainly hope that things would be fine one day. He remarked that ethics and responsibility are two different things. Ethics, on one hand, are related to values, family background and cultural milieu whereas; responsibility is administrative process, which outlines one’s accountability and the periphery of limits. Ethics and responsibility are co-related and it is imperative to re look at the entire system of ethics and responsibility in Police. He narrated his personal experiences working at different capacities in CRPF and motivated the participants.

Assam Riffle, Mr. Rajnish Ahlawat- Comdt. CRPF, Mr. Ajeet Singh Salaria- SP, National Investigation Agency, Mr. V L Joshi- Dy. Commander, BSF and Mr. N Joshi- Dy. Commander, BSF are attending the Course.
During the five day Vertical Interaction Course, the participants will be apprised with different modules including Corruption in Police, Sexual Assault of Women in Work Place, National Human rights, National Police Commission, Crime against Women and others.
