Mr. Neil Mathew, Computer Science & Engineering, ASET student received cash award of Rs.50,000 in #OpenDataApps Challenge organized by NIC, Govt. of India and NASSCOM

It is a matter of great pride and achievement for Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Amity School of Engineering & Technology (ASET) that its student Mr. Neil Mathew of B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering + MBA, 2010-2015 batch has participated in the #OpenDataApps Challenge and received cash award of Rs. 50,000/- in #OpenDataApps Challenge organized by NIC in association with NASSCOM, under the National Data Sharing and Accessibility Policy (NDSAP), Government of India on 18th February, 2014.

 

Neil Mathew’s concept note was selected among 800 concept notes submitted from 76 cities all over India. The submitted applications underwent a screening process on 20th November 2013, and the numbers of suitable candidates were narrowed to a hundred with further review by a management team based on a defined evaluation criterion. He came among 20 finalists on 20th Dec, 2013 and was invited to give a brief presentation of the app before Grand Jury.

 

He made an android application titled 'Gramseva: Kisan' which retrieves mandi prices of commodities in various markets in India, using the dataset provided by Data Portal India. The app can be downloaded from Google Play available at:

Neil Mathew was awarded as runners up for Agriculture Sector at the Prize Distribution and Felicitation Ceremony for the #OpenDataApps Challenge, scheduled on 18th February 2014,  presided by Hon’ble Minister of Communications & Information Technology and Minister of Law & Justice, Shri Kapil Sibal and Shri J. Satyanaraya, Secretary , Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) , Government of India.
