Amity Law School, Centre II starts Moot Court Competition on "Criminal Law"

Amity Law School, Centre II started three day Moot Court Competition on the topic “International Criminal Law” at Amity Campus, Sector- 125, Noida.

Moot Court is one of the primary modes of clinical legal education which prepares law students to face actual courtroom work, while being adjudged by a bench of 3 judges drawn from amongst senior Judges, leading Counsels, Diplomats, media persons and academics.

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sudhansu Jyoti Mukhopadhaya, Judge, Supreme Court of India; Mr. Mohan Parasaran, Solicitor General of India;Mr. Subodh Markandeya, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India; Hon’ble Mr. K TS Tulsi- Senior Advocate, Supreme Court, Mr. Lalit Bhasin- Advocate, Supreme Court of India  and Dr. Aruna Namballa- Vice President (Editorial), AIR Law Academy and Research Centre inaugurated the competition.

Addressing the august gathering, Prof.Mamta Srivastava- Additional Director, Amity Law School, Centre II welcomed the distinguished guests who spared out time to enlighten the young mooters.She shared that during the three day Competition, 41 Law Colleges and Institutes across India would participate including NLU, Jodhpur, GNLU,Gandhinagar, Symbiosis Law School, Pune, Symbiosis Law School, Noida, School of Law Christ University, Bangalore; CMR Law School, Bangalore and others.

Addressing the budding lawyers of thecountry, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sudhansu Jyoti Mukhopadhaya, Judge, Supreme Court of India advised them to enjoy the legal profession in which ever capacity they work. Sharing the key to success in mooting, Hon’ble Judge advised the law students to master the art of communication which requires instant thought process and intelligence. He motivated them to participate in Moot Court Competitions with open minds and continuously apply their intellect to explore new horizons. He stressed that the combination of three L’s-“Labor”, “Legal Acumen” and “Luck” would help them to excel in Law profession.

Attributing his success in law profession to his fanatic participation in Moots during studies, Hon’ble Mr.K T S Tulsi-Senior Advocate, Supreme Court shared with students the enthusiasm and zeal he had during his college days to participate  and win various moot courts. He stressed that for young budding lawyers there is nothing more instructive or greater incentive than participating in moot court competitions. He opined that Law profession is one of the greatest professions since it gives lot of intellectual independence to the practitioners and gives them a right to put forward their viewpoint even in front of the most senior Judges or Advocates.

Sharing his views, Mr. LalitBhasin- Advocate, Supreme Court of India averred that Moot Courts help in promoting and strengthening intelligence, competence and integrity of budding lawyers, making it important for them to regularly participate in Moot Court competitions. He advised law students to practice legal profession while always keeping in mind the human face of law.
