The esteemed panelists spoke on emergence of internet in India, its current scenario and its impact on the society at large. With the escalating popularity and usability of the Internet, issues like Internet security or Internet safety were discussed. Students were guided on how to evade attempts by hackers, spammers, pedophiles (online predators) and cyber-terrorists who are lurking on the Internet in search of easy prey.
India is an important country for Facebook and the growth of the Internet and connectivity across the country raises many interesting and complex issues of public policy and regulation. Principles for social media usage and self – responsibility of the user were also brought to light in this discussion.
