Amity School of Engineering and Technology organised a two week Faculty development programme on Training the trainers on Entrepreneurial Skills from 09th Dec 2013 to 20th December 2013. The inaugural ceremony was held at B Block Seminar Hall on December 09, 2013 .
The dignitaries present were Acting Vice Chancellor Prof.(Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Dr. Ravi Prakash, Director ASET , Prof.(Dr.) K.M. Soni, Deputy Director ASET, Mr. Neeraj Sharma, Adviser NSTEDB, DST Govt. of India, Ms. Dolly Goklaney, Amity Invocation incubator, Prof. G.K. Varshney, Delhi University , Mrs. Aruna Chabha, Ex Sr. Technical Director NIC.
The faculty development programme is a specially designed programme, for the teachers and trainers to disseminate entrepreneurial skills among every single youth making them innovative to “generate opportunities rather than waiting for it”. It is a key to unlock the creative potential of youth, pioneering a change.
The strong need of the hour to mobilize the economy, demands youth potential to float hoard of enterprises with extraordinary competencies. The demand can be accomplished through proper transformation of entrepreneurial skills by the knowledge champions – teachers/trainers/resource persons.
The main objective of the program was to:
- Train and develop the knowledge transforming resources to guide the prospective entrepreneurs in knowledge based ventures
- inculcate culture of innovation/entrepreneurship
- assist in analyzing market trend, helping youth to analyze future demand
- Motivating/grooming potential entrepreneurs to set up skill based/technology oriented enterprises
- Capacity building of teachers/trainers/resource persons who in turn teach entrepreneurship
About thirty faculty members from different Amity Universities participated in the event. The various technical sessions that are being conducted in this program are:
Historical Background –Indian Values vis-à-vis entrepreneurship and the present scenario, Why Entrepreneurship: Economic Development and Entrepreneurship, Charms of being an Entrepreneur, Curriculum Design and Development, EDPs: methodologies and strategies-promotional work and developmental inputs, Promoting S&T, Entrepreneurship - role of DST (NSTEDB), Experience sharing with successful entrepreneur, Rationale for selecting Potential Entrepreneurs: various tool and techniques for selection, Business Opportunity Identification and Guidance Environment Scanning Market survey: tools and techniques. Planning a Small Scale Industry Support Network available for SSI(DIC, SIDC, Bank, Financial Institutions etc.), Achievement Motivation Training (AMT): How to develop achievement motivation, Technical aspects of SSI unit Technology assistance from R&D labs and other institutions, Technology assistance from R&D labs and other institutions IR, Promotion & Support to Technology Development, Schemes of DST and other agencies including Venture Capital Fund. How to prepare a Business Plan; Content and Sequencing Business Plan: Cost of Project & Means of finance, Cost of production and profitability Business Plan: Financial projections, BEP, Working capital assessment and management, Marketing management and marketing support available to SSI units, Creativity and Innovations, Problem solving and decision, Making Communication skills for Entrepreneurs, Managerial Aspects(Including Labor Legislation Commercial Acts etc), How to make proposal for EACs and EDPs and how to organising an EAC, EDP and Individual Counseling Techniques.
