Amity Centre for Agricultural Extension Services organises Farmers Training cum workshop at at Ch. Brahm Prakash Ayurved Charak Sansthan, Najafgarh, Delhi

The Amity Centre for Agricultural Extension Services (ACAES) has organised a Farmers Training cum workshop sponsored by National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Govt. of India, New Delhi entitled “Production Technology of Medicinal Plants, its Uses, Processing Techniques and marketing grown in sodic and saline water condition”.  The programme was organised at Ch. Brahm Prakash Ayurved Charak Sansthan (CBPACS), Khera Dabar, Najafgarh, Delhi- 73 on 22nd November, 2013.  More than 50 farmers and farm women have participated in this workshop.

 

During the inaugural session, welcome address was given by Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Nesari, Additional Director (Academic), CBPACS. She informed that Chaudhary Brahm Prakash Ayurved Charak Sansthan is working constantly to promote Ayurveda and its age-old practices.  It is a multi-speciality hospital and adopts an alternate therapy to cure chronic diseases.  About 1,000 patients visit the hospital per day form all over India.   She further informed that the hospital is spread across 95 acres area of which 49 acres for Herbal Garden and remaining area for building and parking/green and a playground. She requested ACAES, Amity University, Noida to develop a small demonstration unit of selected medicinal plants species at their farm to see its performance in sodic & saline water condition. She also assured the farmers to purchase their bio-product of medicinal plants by the Ayurved Hospital, Najafgarh.

 

Dr. N. P. Singh, Director ACAES explained the brief activities of Amity Centre for Agricultural Extension Services (ACAES) and also explained the objectives and mandates of this project. It was informed the house that 6.7 million hectare area affected with sodic problems and 10 – 65 % water is saline water and suggested ways and means to alternate use of saline water for growing medicinal plants and other crops.

 

Shri Manjeet Singh Chauhan Hon’ble member of ACAES Advisory Committee has participated and addressed the participants and give emphasis that farmers should produce good quality of medicinal plants and also they may be insured for marketing of their produce.

 

Prof. Dr. H. M. Chandola, Director CBPACS has suggested that Ayurvedic Medicinal plants should be grown in a ideal condition after testing of soil and water micronutrients so that a good quality of Ayurved could be produced to make it more effective, remunerative and also enhance the export value.

 

The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Jitendra Kumar Sharma, Chief Executive Officer, NMPB, GOI, New Delhi and he expressed his happiness to see such type of new activities which can be carried out by ACAES for the benefit of the farmers which will set a mile stone in this direction by testing of six (6) selected medicinal species which can be grown in saline water condition and wider adoption of improved technologies in a larger area.

He spoke about the importance of medicinal plants and the efforts that NMPB is making in this direction by promoting cultivation and processing of important medicinal plants.  He suggested that every women should maintain a kitchen garden in her home. He said that if women will come forward and work then a strong foundation is laid which will continue for generations. He agreed with Dr. Chandola that there is a need for quality of good medicinal plants for healthcare and the Project can be a link between farmers and Chaudhary Brahma Prakash Institute.

Six Medicinal plants Extension Training Modules developed by Amity Centre for Agricultural Extension Services (ACAES), Amity University, Noida were distributed among the participants and all the officials including the resource persons participated in the said workshop.
